Hi, I've recently moved to Dubai from Abu Dhabi and am in Desperate need of a cut and highlights. Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser (reasonable prices!). I've heard so many horror stories about salons here! Also, does anyone know of any expat mobile hairdressers. One more thing! Anyone used 'Shima' beauty lounge on the Ranches??

Thanks so much!

Ibrahim at Headlines based in Capital Hotel (top of Al Diyafa St, close to the flag - call 04 346 0012. THE best prices in Dubai and THE best hairdresser in my opinion. I also have mani, pedi, eyebrows and eyelashes sorted whilst Im there. Someone on EW recommended him earlier, i tried calling the place but their english was so bad that it scared me off...

Salon Ink for colour and cut. Been to all the rest (except Juan and Capitol Hotel) and would never go to them again. Used to use Marie Dowling, but too many dissapointments there, so gave up.

I have had so many bad colour jobs and haircuts in my 5 years here. I find salon ink the best and whilst some may find them expensive i suppose it is what you like and trust plus i paid a similar amount for my hair back home in the UK I am sure that there are several people on here who can recommend cheaper salons Good Luck

I recommend Juan, in Indigo Tower JLT. I went last month for the first time and will return for my next cut.

As always I will recommend Juan Salon (as advertised on Expat Woman - click on Beauty and scroll down). As you will see on the advert he has a fantastic offer for 500aed (although it says Ramadan offer it is being repeated for the whole of October). I will certainly be using this offer again as I think it is a great deal and I think Juan and his team are fabulous.

I too was not happy with Yvonne at Hairworks at JBR but have to say that Lindsay at Hairworks in Ibn Batuta is brilliant. However, i do agree their prices are a bit on the high side. A new salon has just opened in Amwaj 5 in JBR and as it is very close to me I am going to give it a try as they are much cheaper.

Is it just me or this salon ink, hair works are just ridiculously overpriced?I've try hair works at jbr after hearing so many good things and reading in ahlan about ivvone but seriously I could't be more disapointed.the salon is more like a 2star cheap place and the prices are soo OTT.I paid for full highlights(only the roots actually where highlighted cause according to ivonne my hair was to damaged to go further), a treatment that was actually forced more than recommended and a blow dry 830dh??!!!seriously?!!!not to forget that actually ivonne wanted to let her shampoo girl blow dry it and then charge me 170 dh for something that I could have done much better at home with an iron. Never tried salon ink but I checked their prices and honestly unless they are in bur al Arab so I can justify their rent,I will not pay that amount, and I'm a girl that does blow dry every 3days and takes her hair very serious.

Ted Morgan on the Palm - if you do a quick search on here, you'll find lots of recent recommendations for them - all of the stylists there are super (in my opinion!)
