no, you wouldn't have to pay tax on previous years' earnings, but it is highly likely that you wouldn't be able to receive a pension, say, because you wouldn't have paid enough National Insurance.

well it makes life much more easier when it comes to Visas and traveling to Europe.. If I use my saudi passport then of cousre I will need to apply for visas... but when I travel to any Arab country such as the UAE for example then I would use my Saudi passport as a member of the Gulf Countries I don't need a visa :-)

thank you all... My parents are saudi citizens.. i was born in the 70's during that time and until 1982 it was possible if a person was born in the UK to become a UK citizen, that law was changed after 1982. Thank you - I never knew that, question 2 if you have never lived there and have always been on your Saudi passport why do you need it? Sorry being nosey now :)

As you have never lived in the UK, then I don't believe you will be liable until you actually have lived, and worked in the UK. Question, you say that you were born in the UK and therefore were given a UK passport, how did this occur, didn't think that was possible?? I think it would have something to do with if OP's parents had UK passports .....

If you are a UK passport holder and work in a country where you dont pay tax my understanding is that you have to remain outside of the UK for a whole tax year I.E April to April then you wont be liable for tax on earnings here ( if you return to live in the UK) http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/faqs_general.htm#2nr See below

Hi all, I was born in the UK therefor I have a UK passport as well as a Saudi passport as I am a Saudi national and have lived there all my life. I never lived in the UK. I do not own any property in the UK, I just visited there a couple of times for holidays only. I now live and work in Dubai under my Saudi passport. My question is, if I ever decide to move to the UK will they ever ask about me about taxes that I haven't been paying? I am not really sure how the whole system works. Thanks
