Hi Ladies

has anyone taken any driving lessons here in Dubai to refresh your driving skills?

I have a driving license, however, I have not driven for a while and do not feel confident to start driving on my own. Is this possible or may I get into some sort of trouble? Thanks!

Well don't forget that all cars over here are automatic so that is soo much easier than a manual. You will take to it like a duck to water, riding a bicycle .. catch my drift :) Maybe get a nice hire car too, and try out in that before buying somehting to really get used to the roads! I know what my DH's comment gonna be: we will get you a bumper car! :) Thanks for your support, my confidence is growing! Your welcome Div.

Ahh thank you girls! Feels good to get a reply and to know I'm not the only one! My problem is that when I say I haven't driven for a while....it means some 5 years :D and here they drive like mad. At least I could drive with same madness :) I will have to have a word with my DH...can already imagine his reaction :D

FB - I could not agree more with:- My advice which I was given was get you DH/OH to take you out when its very quiet on the roads. I started off in a carpark then around JLT hopefully will get to do szr on friday eeekk That is exactly what I did and it was brilliant. Do not attempt to go to have refresher course here, your driving will probably turn out worse than when you started :)

Hi Div Im in the same position as you. I have been here two years and just recently converted my UK licence to Dubai one. I also planned to take a refresher but I was told it was a waste of time and money. Dh has been taking me out every friday as its quieter on the roads and I did my first drive to Ibn buttuta last Friday (it was nerve wrecking but am glad I did) I am not a confident driver and I hardly drove in the UK but Im trying to get over my fear and get my confidence back. All my friends drive and its so fustrating I take taxi everywhere and taxi here are hit and miss some are nice some are totally a$$holes. My advice which I was given was get you DH/OH to take you out when its very quiet on the roads. I started off in a carpark then around JLT hopefully will get to do szr on friday eeekk HTH Good Luck..x
