I have been called a lobster snob and am a self proclaimed lobster purist (if it isn't in the shell, it's could be anything).
Coming from a part of Canada where you go to the wharf and buy it off the boat I have never failed to be disappointed here. I was excited to see "live" lobster at Carrefour last December - but having poked them with my finger they were (a) mostly dead - no one buys a dead lobster in Eastern Canada and (b) if alive, close to death. I bought 2 anyways because I miss lobster!!!! They would probably have been acceptable as part of a "dish" (thermidor, bisque, etc) but out of the shell they were dismal.
To be fair, they have to travel a long way to get here, the fish mongers don't know lobster here (although I have seen a lobster tank in Terminal 3 which might be palatable, but at a price) and don't know how to "store" live lobster properly.
My advice? For good lobster, visit any country that borders on the North Sea or North Atlantic it's the best thing in the world if fresh.
has anyone eaten at Red Lobster in Dubayy Mall? It seems strange lobster as fast food, but I hear it's a concept that works well in North America and Canada
Also will children enjoy eating there?Personally, I would say don't bother. I ate there with my son, and we are both lobster crazy, but theirs tasted quite awful. Sadly.
