Hi everyone,
A friend of mine is moving over to Dubai in January, and as he's never been here before, he has no idea which areas are best to live! We live in Downtown but apart from this area, I'm not too sure where to recommend. He's a single guy, late 20's, and will need to get to near Emirates Towers for work. He'd just need a 1 bed apartment so if you have any suggestions of which areas might be good, it would really help :) TIA.

Thank you for all those suggestions! I'll pass them all onto him. He'll be very grateful...hard making the move when you have to sort your own accommodation out...we were really lucky and had our apartment all sorted by our employer.

It depends whether he wants to live close to work or is willing to have a commute. For that budget he could find a nice apartment in some areas of the Marina, it would be great for him to live near a metro station as he would then be able to get the metro to work - Emirates Towers is within walking distance of a metro station. I use the metro every day and it is great. Or Jumeirah Lakes Towers would have a great apartment for his budget - again it would be good to live near one of the metro stations, however JLT isn't as good an area as there is still a lot of development going on - it is quickly improving though. I have friends who live in the Lofts building in Downtown area if he wanted to be close to work and they are really nice apartments with a great view, not sure of cost though.

He could get a 2 bed in our building for that but it would depend on whether he liked the area. We're next to the new Ramada Jumeirah in Al Hudaiba. It takes 10 minutes to get to emirates towers. Very nice, older apartment block with all facilities and great shops around. Let me know if you want more details

He could probably get one in Downtown for that price and there are some nice ones at DIFC edited by louisedvs on 10/11/2011
