I was thinking of ordering some wine from Portugal does anyone know if I can get wine delivered to Dubai? Is there any issues with this. TIA

er I went wine tasting in Austria a few years back and brought about 8 bottles back in my suitcase! No issues whatsoever. You can bring alcohol upto the duty free allowance with you in from elsewhere, you just can't have it sent. Come to think of it I also brought speciality wines back from Australia as well. edited by Chocs01 on 06/12/2011

We have had a few queries from good friends, who usually send us a crate or two and this year we have had to decline, much to DH's dismay

Rubic, TBH, your question truly beggars belief. You are either having a bit of fun, or you seriously have no idea of what you speak. careful VP, the mods aren't liking any criticism of the wine question ... must be a sensitive subject for them!!! Yeh, but really.....think about it. I am shocked that one would even think about it, and then write it.....

Rubic -- if you ever fly on Emirates, check out the specialty wine store called Le Clos in Terminal 2 as they have a very broad selection and may be able to get the wine you want.

Because alcohol has restricted distribution in the region personally importing it would be forbidden. Even when you ship your personal possesions alcohol is among the banned items. I suggest you apply for a liquor license and buy wine in the same way as the rest of us have to! I do have a liquor licence but it was a wine that is not here. thanks for explaining CP

Dear Rubic, Just to let you know importation of alcohol is not allowed. The importation of alcohol into the UAE is only permitted as part of the duty free allowance from the airport for personal consumption. You can only buy from an MMI or an A&E outlet in Dubai if you have an alcohol licence. Here's a link on how to get your licence in case you need to know http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_faqs_EW_guide_to_getting_an_alcohol_license_4649.aspx Hope that helps :)
