Does anyone know if this is possible? I am pretty sure that there are some restrictions in place (and that they have to earn a certain amount of $$$ to get one). Does anyone have anymore details?

We were hoping to take our Maid with us to Greece in a few months but the Greek Embassy is saying that she must have a bank account in order to apply for the visa?!?!?!

TIA

I went to NBAD and Emirates NBD and after a very long waiting time I found out that the rules have changed and there is no ladies account anymore. If you want to open a saving account or any account your maid needs 3000 DHS to open the account, which she doesn't have. I also asked if she would be able to send money to her country but it cost 100 DHS per transaction, which is more than double than what she is paying at any other places here in Dubai. So all in all it looks like it is not possible to get an account for people with little salaries!!

That stinks. I didn't know they changed the rules. I just hired a 2nd maid who was hoping to open an account in a few months. Do you know what are the new restricitions?

Thanks momof3. I also posted this on the Dubai board and apparently NBAD now has some restrictions in place. However Emirates NBD will do it but it costs 25 dirhams a month.

Our maid has an account with NBAD. If you get her a ladies savings account, there are no fees and you only need 1,000dhs to deposit in order to open the account initially. No minimum balance to maintain the account. They never asked her salary. It was very easy.
