Hi Ladies , Just wanted to mention about our worst move EVER , we have moved houses 3 weeks ago and decided to go with UNION MOVERS even though they weren't the cheapest , they have done a mess that I haven't seen or even heared about before , we have paid them nearly 3000 DHS to move within Mirdiff , they have Packed everything , dropped the table in front of my eyes and then when they moved everything , they left all the boxes unpacked with the excuse of no space '' even though I have moved into a bigger house with an extra Room and store !! '' and then when we asked them just to leave as they made the house 3 times worst than what it was they were asking us for a tip in a forcing way , after we paid them It took me, my husband , mother and brother 4 days to open all the boxes and re arrange everything that they have done , and the Big Surprise was that they have damaged our 6000 DHS 52'' tv and the table that they have dropped in front of me , the total loss of 12000 DHS , and since then we have been contacting them , they tried everything from false promises to show up till we will call you back and at the end they said go to the Police if you want we will not do anything , I have no Idea what to do , anyone can advise me who has been in my shoes before ? who do I complain to or report this company to as they are not willing to do anything

do you have Contents Insurance? I've just checked our policy (AXA) and we are covered for damages during moving.

Sorry to hear of your experience. I have used Union Movers based on recommendations from two of my friends and then recommended them to another two friends who also used them and we all found their service to be excellent, they packed and unpacked everything for us and did it all in one day - we were very pleased with them and would def use them again. Again, am sorry you had a negative experience, moving is such a pain without the added pressure of not being happy with the movers. We've had the same great experience and moved with them now 4 times. We definitely don't let them leave however until their done and offer food/beverages as they are tired by the end of the day. We've even had them come back one time as they left one storage room totally unpacked. The key was however, not paying until they were done. I am so sorry that you went through this as they are generally very good. I've recommended them and friends who used them have also recommended them so it seems odd. Perhaps they had a bad day. So sorry they ruined your stuff - Thats horrible. I would be livid too.

You should not pay them until they unpack your boxes as per the agreement you have signed. If they refuise to do that then call the management and have it out with them. never hand over cash if you are not happy with the work or service that they have provided. Gives them more of an incentive to put things right as they need to wait for their money. totally right , my husband had it with them and the way they were treating our goods and just wanted them out by that time , and that was the reason , but i know now for next time Its never easy to withhold payment with 8 sweaty men breathing down your neck in your own home but very easy to say "you shouldn't have paid them" when you're sitting behind a computer. Don't beat yourself up for paying them and you have every right to try and get some compensation. Let me know if you want some help with writing letters etc. I agree they were very unprofessional, totally blocking access to our villa and making no attempt to clear boxes out of the way, just enjoying watching us try and climb over them to get to the door! Thanks a lot Embo , Clearly u have been in my shoes , Spoke to Hubby and we decided to report them to the DED and hopefully something will come out of it !:(

Im saying that because i have been in the exact same situation where movers have dumped boxes and scratched and broken things and refused to unpack because ' its the end of this shift ' Ive had no husband around at the time and a dozen sweaty angry men shouting at me to pay them whilst im standing there with a screaming child. i hol my ground and ask them to move away from my personal space or stand outside of the property and call the supervisor. Youw ill be surprised how attitudes change when you behave like that . its all scare tactics.

Go to the Dept of Economic development and file a claim. Very easy and they will sort it all out for you. Take all correspondence and receipts with you. Also receipts of damaged goods if you have them.
