In the UK, a Queen size is bigger than a King and also in hotels a queen bigger than a king bed. However, here in the UAE they say that a King is bigger than a Queen. so you have Single double queen king super king I have NO idea what sizee my bed is, everytime I buy sheets, covers and duvets, even after measuring. I still get the wrong size depending on what store I go to. Went to Zara Hoem a few weeks ago to buy a bottom sheet, checked the size with the shop assistant, got home and it was too small.... so annoyed. Still, it fits on the inflatable mattress we use for camping!

I just wish they would do away with the silly names and only give the dimensions, it would make life so much easier!

I googled it and apparently there is a lot of confusion since in the UK, Queens are bigger, in US Kings are bigger. So tell me, if I want to buy the bigger :) bed in Dubai, which one am I supposed to go for? Also, is it any different if you buy the bed from IKEA! Help! I'm confused. i'm from the UK and i never heard of Queen size til i came here lol I had a 3/4 bed years ago before i left home so i assumed that was the nearest to it..for the children's beds though i like to buy a size bigger duvet cos i think it's more cosy and stops it falling off... And agree on Ikea sizes - we have single beds from there and my single sheets from the UK are too small !!

Ok, forgive me for giving this to you in inches, just multiply by 2.54 to get cm. American Queen 60 inches wide by 80 inches long American King 76 inches wide by 80 inches long California King 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. The California King is not as wide as a regular King, but is longer to accomodate tall people. Agree with posters below to avoid Ikea. If looking for sheets, I can personally vouch for the Pottery Barn classic sheet sets -- great quality, last forever.

We have a 200 x 200. I think they are called the California King. You'll see some American brand comforters marked California King that come from the States. You might try Hadi as I saw some California King comforters (with Sheets) there. I have bought sheets only from there before that I still use today.

See your deck of cards... King outranks the Queen... So, sizes are different in the world! But I can tell you the OZ sizes: 90 x 200 = Single 120 x 200 = Double 150 x 200 = Queen 180 x 200 = King I have seen King Single and Super King there, but they are not common. Easiest thing is to buy the bed and sheets by dimension. The sheets I buy here in Debenhams marked as Queen, fit my OZ Queen bed @150 x 200. Hope this helps?? So I have a bed that is 200x200 so what is that called - apart from big hahaha Super King in Dubai...but yes, BIG. :)

It's common sense - generally a King will always be bigger than a Queen :) But here you have to factor in the difference between UK and US sizes - and everything in between; Queens from one shop will be bigger than a King from another shop. So confusing. So as already recommended, just go by actual measurements. And stay away from Ikea beds and bedding! As well as horrific quality (as in you get what you pay for) their bedding (linen) sizes doesn't fit any other beds apart from their own. And that includes the pillow cases!

Don't bother looking for king & queen sizes as it can be quite confusing depending on what shop you are buying from. I find the best way is just to look at sizes ie 200 x 200 for the biggest size and 180 x 200 then 160 x 200, 140 x 200 etc.
