A moisanite is not a diamond, otherwise it would be called a diamond

I don't know if you would be interested, but there is a little kiosk in the same mall there as Cara's at the Diamond and Gold Souk who do Moisanite stones which look very much like diamonds and, supposedly, better than the cubic zarconia because they will not yellow over time etc. Anyone, I needed to replace a tiny diamond on my band which estimates for real diamonds came to a little over l,000 dhs., and I ended up replacing it with this Masonite for 300 Dhs. which included the tiny bit of gold to keep the stone in. I must say I'm happy with it, and you could not tell its a diamond. edited by norak on 10/06/2012 yes i agree Moisanite stones are a perfect shiny stone , and very similar to Diamond (they are not Diamond ) Moisanite stones are good edited by aline_jlt on 11/06/2012

If you are able to go to Cara's in the morning - you will meet a lovely Scottish lady called Carol, who can help if there is any confusion over what you are discussing with the guys. edited by jillp on 10/06/2012

I have very good experience with Mohanlal Vallabhdas&Bros in the old Gold Souk. If you enter from the Corniche, turn left on the main street of the Souk, it will be at the corner on your left, after about 100 mtrs. Ask for the owner: Amit.

I really can't estimate the cost. everything depends on the variables, weight, detail of workmanship, stones and so on. Not sure if they have crystals to use, but I can tell you that I got quotes from about 10 shops in the park and found them to be the best, with the most answers, very clear communication and the best turn around. The owner wanders around wearing trackies and offers you tea and coffee too. They seem to generate a lot of repeat custom, which says it all, and I would definitely go back to them. Have fun!

Hi Ladies, Thanks for your replies. @jesspm - I'll go down to Cara after work and see what quotation they can give me - do you have an estimate of how much a replica would cost (using crystals instead of diamonds)? If anyone else has any recommendations please let me know! any help is greatly appreciated :) x You might find it is still quite reasonable with diamonds - really depends on the style eg I know Cara use diamond chips in some styles so you get diamond for less $.

I know a great place, also at Gold&Diamond Park, they make gorgeous jewelry and are very experienced in copying pieces off pictures. I've seen their copy of the Harry Winton Micropave engagement ring and was very impressed.

Everyone always recommends Cara in The Gold and Diamond Market. I've been and the service is great, they reproduced my order exactly, and even fixed the necklace I was wearing at no extra charge.

Hi Ladies! Need your help - do you know were I can get jewellery designed here in Dubai? There's a specific ring I love but unfortunately costs around £21,000 (!!!!). Do you know any jeweller where I can go and take a picture of the ring and he can make a replica for me (not real diamonds but same design) for a low price? Any recommendations or help is much appreciated :)
