I've had 2 kids by c section with dr raj at the American, one 3 years ago and one 8 months ago....no pain for me with a spinal and she was a great doctor...if I decide on having a 4th I would have no doubts in going back there.

Your no pain at all comment made me giggle. I think everyone is terrified of the unknown. Believe me the little bundle they hand you at the end makes it all so worth while, no matter how they come out. I was at city, and it was fine. I think that was totally due to my super lovely midwife. I dont think any 2 births are the same, so there is no perfect doctor or hospital. Basically it's just luck of the draw on who you get, and how your and the baby go health wise. The midwife we had when I arrived was scary, and I thank god the shift changed. Things I learnt..... 1. You are never prepared 2. What will happen will happen 3. If you don't like how the people looking after you are looking after you, don't be scared to ask for someone else (wish I'd done that) 4. and epidurals don't always work.. So if no one is listening to you when you say you are feeling everything....say it again, and say it louder 5. Stick to your guns if something is important to you

Welcare were great in 2009! 28k for c-section, epidural and 5 days stay with baby in NICU and on the sunbed :)

Both American hospital and city hospital are great.. I took epidural at American hospital for my first baby because i was scared just like you, but took so much time to deliver because i didnot feel anything and i was about to have an emergency C section but fortunately I delivered at the end with help from the dr . my body was so much tired. and my baby was a bit blueish at first because of all the pushing i did. But my experience with my second baby was much better, I delivered in city hospital but with a wonderful doctor Helena Taylor from Dr Sulaiman Habib medical centre, my delivery contractions started very fast and Dr didnot advise me with epidural and i took her advise, i delivered very fast the pain was tolerable and me and my baby was in great health, I got up immediately like I did not deliver.

City Hospital- Dr Elsa. I had epidural, it was great did not feel the contractions at all but I also could not figure it out how hard was I pushing. In the end had emergency C-section (baby was out in 15 min) and no issues after that. Scar healed up great, no pain afterwards, no side effects. The package for C-section is 22,500 AED my insurance covered 20,000 AED, we paid the rest. For normal delivery I think it is 11,500 AED but you can ask them about the maternity packages. Good luck.
