miss balamory replied : Frecks, try homeopathic. Works a treat. I second that. Found homeopathy to be very effective in curing my DDs dust allergy and sneezing.

Do the grommets only work when it is a straight reoccuring ear infection or does it also help when they are continually getting nose/chest colds given the whole nose ear system is linked? ENT would have to tell you that...lil miss had BAD mega bad ear infections, and grommets worked for that.

DD had her tonsils/adenoids/grommets done at age 4 1/2 with Dr Muaz Tarabichi at American Hospital. He was fantastic and that was the end of the sickness.

Septillin syrup by Himalaya herbals is very good for boosting immunity. Its not very tasty, but not totally yucky either. It's got a herby tate with honey as its base. My kids take it regularly and its done them a lot of good. they had it in the pharmacy when we were looking this morning for similar stuff, don't ask the pharmicist guy though, as he has no clue what he has in store. They have a section for natural remedies, just look there. sorry! eta, pharmacy at the springs town center...in a kerfuffle here and not thinking! edited by arohadxb on 16/02/2011

Thanks Mrs Laughan. Yes it is definitely time to take her see an ENT Specialist..well both of them actually. Thank you for the recommendation too. I have a few others to look into as well and I will speak to her paed this afternoon when I take her in for her appt. Something needs to be done before I lose the tiny bit of sanity I have left!

Freckles - I haven't read the whole thread - sorry, I am having one of those days! But I think you should take both to the ENT. DS had re occuring snotty noses, and not quite raging ear infections, but would get pink ear drums on and off all the time - he had grommets fitted - no more snotty noses and ear infections, the difference was incredible. I went through life until I was 16 getting tonsilitus every winter again and again. I would do a course of anti-biotics, it would clear up, I would be fine for a couple of weeks, and then it would start over. By the time I had my tonsils out - the surgeon described them as "rotten" - his exact words, not mine. Also was a very tricky op apparently b/c they were so bad, which involved me hemoraging. I wish, the respective GP's had referred both DS and me to an ENT sooner. If you don't know an ENT here I would recommend Dr john McEwan - he is very good and will not rush into an operation....with DS when we moved here, even though he had had gromets, he monitored him for 3 months before putting another set in, to make sure it was necessary. Hope your LO's get better soon.

Sorry freckles that you are feeling this way it's awful when you have back to back illness like that. I have been giving my 2 fresh carrot and orange juicer for a couple of months now and we seem to have avoided all the cold/flu bugs - not sure if it's that but might be - worth a try to boost their vitamin c intake. There is also an immune booster syrup that I tried on the advice of an indian doctor which is a natural product I'll check the name of it for you and let you know what it is -that might also help to boost their immune system. My friends are having the same issues with their little ones and they are not in Dubai! Hope you have a better time soon xx clairehdp, could you please share the name of the syrup.. kids sick at this end as well.. :(

Aaawwww Freckles 1, I totally appreciate where you are coming from. Dealing with continuously sick kids is nothing short of physically exhausting and mentally draining. We all love our kids dearly and as "Mum" it is what we do best, comforting our kids and trying to help make them feel better but, sometimes we forget that we are human too and at times it can all feel deeply frustrating, just a little too much and very overwhelming. Lately I'm feeling pretty drained too, life is crazy busy and we've certainly had our fair share of illness in this family as well and with that has come the mother's guilt and feeling like I could always deal with things a little better when I get overwhelmed and fed up. AAhhhhh, when I read highland lass's post I could not help but shake my head in agreeance as I know what is just around the corner...slighlty panicked I am off to read up on some top tips to help me deal with catching HORMONES! It'd also be lovely if parents who sent their sick kids to school could please refrain from doing so and keep them at home so that we could possibly try and alleviate some of the nasty bugs that are floating around schools at the moment. This is a never ending story and really annoys me! I hope your kids bounce back to health quickly and you manage to find some time for you and get a well deserved rest. Take care SH edited by sleepyhead on 16/02/2011

No need to do anything that radical, kids get sick if you have more than one at home they just ping pong it back and forth, hang in there its exhausting I know believe me, have you seen an ENT, have you had swabs done? If they are up to it and you are not too tired fresh air is a good idea, let hubby take over sit back relax with a nice glass......

Seriously miserable because my kids are constantly ill. For example...JUST IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS.......daughter had strep...then son got tonsilitis, ear infection and chest wheeze and free flowing green goo...now daughter got white spots on her tonsils.... This is bl00dy constant..never seems to let up...so completely and utterly fed up....want to go home..or at least somewhere that is not this flippin' place Have you thought of having their tonsils removed? My guys used to get sick alot when we first moved here and *touchwood* they've been relatively sick free for 3 years now (they get the odd cold, but nothing like what they used to be like - we've been here 5 years and we suffered for 2 with these constant infections). My older DS still has ear issues, but that's more of his tubes are not fully developed and he's on his 3rd of grommets and they seem to be holding okay now. edited by radical3 on 16/02/2011

It's always thew same with kids - one gives it straight to the other and always when you least need it. Sending you cyber hugs and sympathy. Maybe get Mr Freckles to have the kids for a few hours in the evening and go and let your hair down? Failing that, stock up on a load of kids dvd's and all spend the next few days in your pj's eating chip butties ;)
