That time of the year again...International Day!

Does anyone know if copha is available over here? If so, where did you last see it?

If not, how do you make chocolate crackles???

TIA

Best bit was licking the spoon and bowl and not confessing to DH! . Do you normally fess up then? Lol. Nope I normally get caught! I think that I lick the bowl out daily....whatever I am making!

Made them tonight and they were awesome! Added a big, no huge, tablespoon of Nutella as well. They don't have the big base like with copha but they were very yummy. I actually preferred them to the copha version as they weren't really greasy. Best bit was licking the spoon and bowl and not confessing to DH! I might have to do a grown up version with some baileys or Tia Maria in them.

When my kids were little I would take a few blocks from sydney to HK, in a plastic container wrapped in plastic and into the suitcase. Wouldnt try it in the summer here, but never had a disaster in the case!

Awww, gee you girls are sweet. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Sadly CMM, I don't think that's going to do the job as I need something that will liquifey at temperatures. I've seen posts about the melted chocolate (and melted mars bars!!!). It just didn't seem "right" but that will be my fallback option I think. GG - yes, I read somewhere about it being found occasionally at Safestway. I am time poor at the moment but I might have to take a look down there, just in case. It would be great if I could get them authentic. Once again ladies, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

I make chocolate crackles with just rice bubbles and melted chocolate, they are delicious*! *Although I am a Kiwi so you may well consider my version not up to standard ;)

yes I have tried recipes without copha, not fully the same but do-able. My mum brought some out from OZ for me one Christmas which was wonderful. Its worth checking but another Aussie friend once a few years back told me that the Supermarket near Mazaya Centre - Is it the Safestway???( Its on the Jebel Ali side of Mazaya Centre) stocked it.... this was a while a go but might be worth checking.

Littleone, could you let me know how they turn out? I might look for some coconut oil and try them with that and I will post feedback in here in case it's helpful.

LOL Thanks Cherry ripe, I just found the other thread. Strangely it didn't show up in my first search. But I've also found this blog suggesting coconut oil might do the trick... http://noshwithme.com/tag/copha-substitute/#.UTI3VzCdt1E

I've never seen copha here but I remember this thread last year and some ladies had some alternatives. You need Amy!
