Hi
We have to take out a group of 8 people for a meal with drinks and were thinking of a nice buffet where alcoholic beverages are included.
The usual ones out there are all over 300. Any suggestions for more affordable options?
Thanks

I was pleasantly surprised by Mistral. There was sushi and seafood, they freshly grilled meat and seafood that you chose, curries, soups, casseroles and lots of desserts including freshly made crepes, choc fountain, icecream and toppings, fruit and flans. As I said before, they were constantly filling the glasses of those on the alcohol package and our whole group of 10 thought it a great night for the price.

So I did it - I got the entertainer and from my many phone calls the only 2 places that offer buffet inclusive of alcoholic drinks are mistral - Ibn battuta gate and five at Jumeriah Rotana. So I am leaning towards Mistral have heard good reviews. Thanks ladies for all the suggestions and help :)

I second the Rotana hotels too. What's best about Rotana and I am surprised not many take on that, is that they have a membership that is the best value around. It costs just over 800 Dhs for a Rotana rewards card per year but totally worth it. 1) you get immediately a 250 Dhs voucher (every year on renewal) to use at any of their restaurants including abroad 2) in summer when spending over 100 Dhs you get 50% money back 3) dining in 2 people gets you 50% off the bill, 3 people is 33% and 4+ people is 25% off, also you get 15% off all drinks 4) you collect points with every meal that can be exchanged for stuff 5) you get benefits on hotel rooms too Pergolas being one of my favourite brunches in town even without the above benefits. They also have lots of other restaurants I love but don't wanna go off topic. and no I don't work for Rotana, just giving credit when it's due :)

Flavours on 2 is good. Have taken them there before though. But will also look into some of the other Rotanas. All these vouchers are in entertainer family? I have never used the entertainer before so slightly confused! Yes :-)

Flavours on 2 in Rotana Tower is, I think, one of the best, but no outside seating. Around 200 for two people if you use a voucher from the Fine Dining book. Good atmosphere, but if you go on a Thursday, booking is essential. Village Terrace at the Meridian Village near the airport is good, with live cooking stations and about 220 each, all inclusive. Lovely outdoor setting with a band playing in the background. DD went to Channels recently and vowed never to go back!! Food was terrible and the red wine undrinkable. Went to Mistral a few weeks ago and wasn't overly impressed, but good value with a voucher. edited by amelia on 25/03/2013 I went to the Meridian Village 2 weeks ago and would never go back again The service was appalling and at one point they were serving soft drinks without any alcohol in to save time! . We managed to get 3 drinks in the hours we had paid for, food was terrible and the meat was full of fat. I have been going there for years but will not again

I have heard good things about Ibn Battuta Gate, I must try it. I usually go to Media Rotana, Channels Restaurant (Media City) or a more sedate but lovely Pergolas Restaurant at the Al Marooj Rotana (By Dubai Mall). Seafood night at Pergolas (Tuesday I think) is such value for money with Lobster, Oysters etc plus other non fishy stuff :-)

Just replied before u changed your post. Food and atmosphere good, live music, plenty of alcohol. They actually told us to keep ordering the alcohol as tea/coffee would take 20 minutes!

We went to the friday night buffet at Ibn Battuta Gate hotel last week. 249 dhs all u can eat and drink. Its also in the Entertainer book which makes it a bargain. That sounds nice. Is it in the Entertainer this year? Fine dining I assume? Will look into buying the book then!
