Hi Ladies,

Found out at our 20 weeks scan that we're having a boy. However, ever since then I've had doubts (just a feeeling!!). We're keeping it a secret but everyone who sees me says I'm having a girl (from what I'm craving, to how I'm carrying etc etc). Its made me really paranoid, to the extent that I'm only buying white and cream clothes!

I asked doc at last appointment if she could check again, but she said the scan wasnt clear enough (now 32 weeks).

Is it a common mistake to get the s'ex of the baby wrong??

It will be 99 percentage correct. Esp if they have predicted boy because it's much easier and clearer to identify boys than girls. And at 20 weeks I think it will be too clear to make a mistake.

The cravings /appearance/ way of carrying have nothing to do with the gender of the baby....I had entirely different cravings in my 3 trimesters.. Ppl used to say that I'm carrying a boy seeing the black color on my neck and swollen nose... I was all swollen n had a big tummy.. some even predicted that I would need a c-section assuming that my baby would be very big.. My hubby is a suspense lover and never allowed me to check with the doc, but predicted without doubt that we re having a baby girl.. I had a normal delivery n I gave birth to my sweet li'l girl who is now 3 nd half months! she was neither big nor small asppl assumed.. she was 3.125 kg :)

Its more common to say girl when its actually a boy, rather then the other way around. At 20 weeks the boy bits are pretty well formed so if they see them they tend to be pretty sure. The craving, how you carry etc has nothing to do with it. People told me boy the entire time I was pregnant with my daughter, but I carried both my babies exactly the same (one boy one girl) and cravings were more or less the same too.

It is not a common mistake. You are most likely having a boy. Gender has no scientifically proven effect on cravings, carrying, etc.
