...before my inlaws arrive for their annual FIVE week visit. I've put the wine glasses at the back of the tallest cupboard, finished off the last of the sausages, and hidden all the alcohol at the back of my wardobe. Just sitting here with EW and my the last dregs of my bottle of cab sauv... (sob)

Please no volcanic ash this year to scare me whitless!

Thinking positively, do you need to lose weight? Cutting out the wine will always do it for me. OTOH, I can only survive spending time with mother or ma-in-law if there's always an open bottle handy.. Oh, poor you.. OMG, just re-read that. Clearly no alcohol problem here, oh, no, not at all.. edited by simpleasabc on 24/03/2011 Apparently there is 1000 calories in a bottle of wine. Luckily for me, you are probably overestimating - there are about 525 cals in a 75cl bottle of dry white wine.

this post has put me in the mood for a glass of red wine. And I always get a little nervous reading these kind of stories as it makes me think of what things could be like down the line with my own boyfriend (muslim) if we were to get serious! Right, cabarnet sauvignon ,where are you?!

I really admire you for this but why oh why should you be made to feel uncomfortable in your own house especially when it comes to dietary preferences.

Yes, eldery and strict. Luckily DH isnt practicing (born and brought up in London), but he does toe the line when they are around, so we all have too! It's a very long five weeks! edited by pinks on 24/03/2011 Oh gosh, feel really sorry for you, it's your house you should do what you want! How inconsiderate of them. :( if it was me I would just keep the wine out and act normal :-) at least it will save them (and you from them) pitching up for five week again LOL edited by Pomegranate on 24/03/2011

miss balamory replied : oh! why do you have to hide the alcohol??! Muslims?? Worse, they're Christians but have taken the Pledge/think you're an alkie? I hadn't thought of that - that might actually be worse!
