So Easter Sunday is 24th April this year right? For us Easter Sunday normally goes something like this: kids wake early excited by what Easter Bunny has left for them, they get even more excited by the bunny footprints and fluff easter bunny has left. We have a lazy Sunday morning breakfast while the kids eat a lot of chocolate and then we head out for a family day, picnic, park, bike ride or something like that. This is our first Easter in Dubai and since Sunday is a school day here I was wondering what families tend to do on Easter Sunday? TIA

TIA We have a lovely family day and meet up with friends and do egg hunts with the kids and make easter bonnets etc and we get a turkey take out (like at Xmas). Our school has the Easter Sunday off so we are doing the same again this year only at friends on the Palm so we will be on the beach too!

Oh and just remember not to put the eggs out in the garden (if that's what you intend to do) for any length of time before the kids go search for them! They'll melt v v quickly!

The DIA's not off for Easter, but have "Spring Break" now. Our Nusery isn't closed either. We have Spring Break over the next 2 weeks. I actually enquired today whether they were taking the day off on Easter Sun and was categorically told no. She told me something about it not falling within the dates the Ministry dictate (but I wasn't really listening properly!). So guess it'll be a normal day in our house, with the addition of some chocolate!

Go to work (and school in your case) and act as if it's a normal day. We have an easter egg hunt when DH gets home from work (usually tries to finish earlier), though mine are quite young. Easter is a big deal for my family in the UK. We all normally get together, have a big roast, big family easter egg hunt and it's just so different here. I remember my 1st Easter here (this is my 3rd), I was so down all day as it just wasn't the same, but now I just embrace the local holidays and celebrations and not worry too much about missing my Easter. That's what living in a different country and culture is all about for me. When in Rome and all that. PP ps - we still have eggs though, and I remember what it's all about during the period itself. Good advice thanks :) .....our school is not off though but we'll come up with a great day for the kids anyway
