Sorry to go on but I am still surprised that professional cleaners don't know to use hot water and clean cloths to clean. The agencies have a lot to answer for, they really could spare the maids for a couple of days training surely. I know that a lot of the maids are trained by following another maid for a day or two.. what good is that if the other maid can't clean. Anybody want to set up a maids training centre?

LOL hotwater i found that out as well...think u really need to go through everything to say how much products how often to change the mop bucket water and too use Hot Water.....What cloths are for wat etc After all that u feel u could have done it ureself lol with less grief.. Exactly what am I doing now (diy) and the flat actually feels clean , which I didn't think was possible! Honestly it doesn't seem to make any difference what or how much I explain. I thought somebody out there somewhere must have a clean cleaner!

I agree Mushroom, but often telling them is not enough. I have also found that sometimes they work so slow (on purpose?!?!) that they don't have enough time to do the extra things I would like them to do. I don't think I am very demanding and I am always nice to them, but how many time do I need to keep telling them to not use pledge while cleaning the cooker, to use hot water, to not pull the plug on the alarm clock and internet but use the other free plugs, to use a stepladder if they can't reach etc etc etc. Maybe someone on EW should start an agency and train them. I'd be happy to let them use my house for training purposes ; ) Muurtje - sorry but your post really made laugh. Pledge by the oven - urgh! It's so true. I have tried everything, being nice, explaining, telling, tipping generously and I just can't seem to get somebody to clean remotely hygenically. The only one who ever did get clean properly stole all of my stuff!

Thanks fairycakemum. Muurtje it is a problem as they are not trained at all. It's not really their fault but things that we would see as common sense and no need to tell them (ie toilet brush for toilet only) they just don't seem to get. If a maid agency gave their maids basic training I'm sure they could make a lot more money!

I have the same problem... it's taken me weeks to get her to use HOT water. Do these agencies not train their maids? Or maybe it's a problem with different people wanting different things? I'm not really happy with the ladies (there's 2) that come to my house at the moment, but don't think that ladies from the other agencies will be much better. It is such a shame that maids aren't allowed to work part time as my friends has got a brilliant maid and I would love to use her a couple hours a week.

Does anybody have an agency cleaner that can actually clean? I have tried many and my apartment always seems to feel dirtier after they have been, my feet are black and then I find out they have either been cleaning the bath with the toilet brush or the toilet with my sons sponge and it doesn't seem to make any difference how explicit my instructions are! I am 8 months pregnant and could really do with somebody good - any suggestions?
