So...we move to Dubai in May this year. We have an 18 month old DD. So I’m thinking the first thing to do is get her in school. Can anyone help me on where I start?

I’m guessing I have to wait for her visa to be sorted (which I hear is a pretty quick process) before I begin on getting her on waiting lists?

We’re wanting UK curriculum, we will be living at Media City, but a bit of a drive doesn’t bother me as I’m used to 1 ½ hour round trip every morning in England to get DD to child care then myself to work.

She will start FS1 in Sept 2013 right?

I have looked at the KHDA reports and seen which are classed as good or outstanding so used this as a bit of a starting point. However, the ones that are frequently talked about on here seem to have waiting list closed for this year already!

Can anyone give me any advice on what to do from here? And any waiting list I can get her on where realistically there may be a chance of getting her a place? And what schools would you recommend visiting and looking at trying to get her into?

TIA!

In the process of finding the right schools, do check out the not-for-profits http://www.jebelalischool.org/ http://www.jess.sch.ae/Home.aspx I have heard only positive reviews. They have huge waiting lists but your children are young and they might get in. Also, do not underestimate the hassles of a school commute. It can be extremely dangerous and frustrating on the roads here and the closer you can live to your school, the better. Thanks for the advice. I guess the danger of the roads is somehting I need ot seriously consider. Living close would be a bonus. There doesn't see to be many schools really near Media City with a good reputation that are stilla ccepting FS1 in 2013. I will keep looking though.

Send me your email address Yorkshirepud, I can email you a helpful list of schools that I recently sent to a friend in the same position as you.
