Yes thanks... already found paper world. Sadly they don't have The Age!! But really like the gift basket/time capsule idea with the various things from candy to music and stuff.

Its not a gift basket, but you can get original newspapers and magazines from Paper World complete with certificates of authenticity. Website: paperworld.com.au

Ok... finally settled on a gift idea. And will throw in a little surprise catered cocktail party. But I'm really icing this idea too: "An all about 1951 album including things like..." from CycloneT. And I know you can buy these year gift basket things online and some are really good. But they're all from US or UK web sites and DH is Aussie. Does anyone know if such a thing can be found from Oz so he can relate more???

I love the 59 small plus one big pressie idea, and others' ideas have inspired me to suggest you sponsor a child for him: http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/sponsor-a-child I love the newspaper from his date of birth idea, too, I did that for a good friend's 60th and she absolutely loved it. PS Was his birth announced in a local or national newspaper? Maybe you could find that one for him :) edited by simpleasabc on 18/08/2011

* Have a star named after him http://www.starregistry.com/?gclid=CKWg2ruq2aoCFcp56wodfg155w * Adopt an animal at your local zoo at home on his behalf eg. tiger from the London Zoo http://www.zsl.org/shop/london-zoo-adoptions/adopt-a-tiger-from-london-zoo/ * Adopt a wild animal http://www.bornfree.org.uk/give/adopt-an-animal/?gclid=CISM79yq2aoCFQsh6wod906E7Q * Donate to a charity on his behalf eg. Oxfam http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com.au/?gclid=CNb7rryr2aoCFQsh6wod906E7Q * An all about 1951 album including things like award winners, top songs, bands, newspaper headlines, result of the grand national, superbowl etc, cost of a car, average wage etc. You could even include a copy of the Oscar winning movie, #1 song and a print out of the front page of his local newspaper the day he was born. What hobbies does he have? If he reads, a first edition of his favourite author (unless of course it happens to be Shakespeare of course.....unless you are a mega millionaire!) If he plays any sport, there are lots of websites with memorabilia....maybe something from the year of his birth, or you could always get a printout of a newspaper printed on the day he was born. Otherwise, maybe just take him out for a lovely dinner a deux.......perhaps on the Bateau Dubai. And if he has a sense of humour, buy him a Zimmer with "go faster stripes"......as a friend did for me on my sixtieth!!!

FIFTY NINE small gifts AND one big one! I get on here because I'm having difficulty with the one big one and I get told to come up with fifty nine more!?! LOL... It's a great idea but OMG... 59 small gifts!! I do like the lordship title!! Hmmm... ok, one small gift down... ! K... I may just be mad enough to try it but in case anyone has any other ideas in the singular, please do share.

You could buy him a 'Lordship' title, then you would be Lady King. :)

I like pollydxb idea but maybe give him 59 small gifts and 1 big gift so he has 60 gifts to open! One for each year. I am sure your 2yo would love helping daddy open his gifts! Ooooh yes I like that idea!!

Ok, So DH turns 60 in two months and am at a total loss!!! I tried googling and all the ideas are about being over the hill and about making the man in your life feel he is still needed!!! My DH is SO not even half way up the hill and we have an almost 2yo and he's the type who can fix anything and is very fit! Problem being he's also the laid back type who needs/wants nothing and sees NO sense in having expensive things when there are perfectly decent less expensive options (clothes, shoes, watches etc...) We can't go away for a romantic weekend or anything like that since we have a 2yo. And there are no 'experiences' (bungee jumping, dinner hanging from a crane, etc) that interest him!!! I'm sure many of you know the type! Any of you come across any brilliant solutions to this problem?? WHAT can I do???
