hi tanya80 - we're doing fine, thanks! Still getting used to breastfeeding (getting there) and being a new mum! lol. Lucy (and you other lovely mamas), you might be interested in coming along to this morning of breastfeeding talks on Saturday http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_pregnancy_babies_breastfeeding_workshop_6467.aspx ; there will also be an IBCLC and breastfeeding counsellors available in the refreshment break for individual questions.

I know thread has gone very quiet, it seems like we the only 3 still keeping it going! wonder how the other May mom's/babies are doing? Hang in there with the breast feeding, its does get easier!!! My little girl is a pro at it now, although she prefers one boob to the other and have to convince her to take the less preferred one! Love laying her on my shoulder and she just stares at me, or when she is looking for milk, and she is sniffing my neck and tries to latch onto my face! I already feel like time is just going too quickly

Hi ladies, I did go into labour on tuesday, it was a long labour, but worth every minute! My little girl weighed 3.5kg and is perfect in every way, I love her to bits and my DS has taken to her so well, I thought there would be a lot of jealousy, but hes just great, he cant stop looking at her and wanting to touch her. I'm tired, but thats to be expected. I will be posting my birth experience shortly!

Moonbean, Jelly stuff is probably mucus plug... My guess is - you'll start labour in the next 2-3 days ;) If I were you I would sleep, sleep, SLEEP like there's no tomorrow because when the baby comes there will be no sleep for a while!

Hi Tanya I'M STILL PREGNANT!!!!! But in all fairness I'm only due next week so I guess I just have to wait a little longer. I had a doc appointment yesterday (I changed docs at the last minute) She offered me a sweep, which I gladly excepted. She said my cervix was ripe and ready and things down there looked very encouraging. She told me to book another appointment next week, but though she would be seeing me in the delivery room much sooner then next week! I'm between 2-3 cm dilated already. So lets hope she is right!!! So far I have not really felt anything. I can feel baby has dropped even further down, but that just about it, braxton hicks here and there. I just wish they could turn into the real thing. Baby is moving as usual. I am bleeding though and have a lot of jelly like stuff coming out, is this normal?

Congratulations ladies, hope you are enjoying your little bundles of joy! Well, we did it too! Last Wednesday night I was out on a girly night out (after shopping all day!!), came home at 1am and just as I was heading upstairs to bed exhausted, my waters broke, 2.5 weeks early! Almost 24 hours later, still only at 5cm the doctor decided it was best to do a C-Section and at 11.09pm, 28th of April, baby Afraa was born. We stuck with Dr Yamini and Welcare in the end and am so happy we did. The staff and Dr Yamini were amazing and worked so well to help us before we made the decision of a C-S. I couldn't recommend them enough.

Congratulations Tanya and welcome Ayana!! Well done, and enjoy every moment with your new baby. Are you breastfeeding btw? If you are, keep going and don't give up, just a few days to get things going and it'll feel amazing. Congratulations again! Moonbean, my baby is called Leo. Hang in there, and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Try to sleep and relax as much as you can, go for massages, shop for baby, etc while you still can!!!!! ;)

Hi Everyone, Our little princess Ayana arrived on May 3rd 03:26 AM, she weighed 3.32 kgs and is 53 cms tall...absolutely in love with her :) So all the backpain I felt that day was infact labour! Was 3 cm dilated and had 3 contractions every 10 mins...waters had to be broken to get things going and ended up with a C section as her heartrate started to decelerate...but overall had a great experience...all the staff at City Hospital has been fantastic...absolutely loving the experience now :) All the best to everyone and hope things go well for all of you... Cheers! Tanya

CONGRATULATIONS LUCY!!!!!!! That is fantastic, I'm so happy for you! And really glad you stuck to your guns about what you wanted. So who delivered your baby? Was it Wafaa? Wow I'm really desperate to have my little one, waiting 2 weeks just seems soo long and I'm really uncomfortable. Fingers crossed she will come soon. What did you name your son? 3.5kg's is a good weight! My little girl already weights 3.2kg's!! Congrats once again and I hope motherhood treats you well. Tanya any updates yet?

Hi everyone, I have some news - we did it!! My son was born on 01 May after a total of 13 labours unmedicated labour. I started using a TENS machine as soon as I was sure they were labour contractions, got to the hospital at 5 cm (following the 411 rule). My husband stuck to my birth plan to every detail, we refused episiotomy (although the doctor really insisted but I was confident I would not tear) and I ended up only with a minor laceration. Started breastfeeding immediately and felt great just 1-2 hours after birth. Baby is healthy - he was born bright pink, crying and kicking, 3.5 kgs and 49.5 cm. Midwives in Medcare were really lovely and helpful, cant complain about them. Doctors respected and followed the birth plan (although I did have to live up to it and husband had to keep reminding them). Administrative & Finance staff were poor, the hospital were full and we had to stay in the labour room. Be careful with wrong charges - they made mistakes in the bills and blamed everything in the "system". But the birth experience itself was fine. I couldn't have done it without a supportive birth partner, TENS machine, prenatal yoga, antenatal classes, lots of reading and lots of positive thoughts!! Now I'm off to find a pediatrician - would be great if anyone can recommend a good one, but this probably should be another thread... Hope you are all having a great pregnancy. Wish you all the strength, patience and calm for labour (remember to stay calm and breathe!!) and a happy healthy baby... most importantly, enjoy the experience! :-)

Hahahaha...my DH has the same reason!! I was 36 weeks 3 days when she did my first internal check...after that have been going to her weekly and she has been checking on every visit..things had stalled for me for abt 2 weeks in between and had progress at my last visit yesterday...I am just so uncomfortable now so when she offered to sweep I agreed to it...but like I said I haven't felt any change after that so perhaps the wait will continue for me :) You also have just 2 weeks to go! Am sure u're super excited now and cannot wait! The last few weeks do feel the longest!!!!

My DH is scared too, thinks he will hurt the baby! Men!!;) well I will be 38 weeks tomorrow, I did ask her about the sweep and internal monitoring and she said she will only do the sweep in it looks like thing are not progressing when I'm over 39 weeks. But I was rather surprised she did not even check to see what was going on downstairs. How far along were you when you had your first internal exam? I just wish stranded of care here was consistent though out! I'm rather happy for you and at the same time jealous ;)

Hey Moonbeam...am in my 40th week now...39 weeks 3 days to be exact :) Am glad ur doc has finally agreed not to do the monitoring as it really did not seem relevant...and its worse since u were paying for it! Very surprised though that she hasn't done an internal yet...u r 37 weeks or thereabouts right?? Perhaps u cud ask her next time... After the sweeping yesterday I thought things might happen today but nothing! I do know about the bit to get DH involved but he is super scared!! ;) I am considering it if nothing happens today either! Its our first so both of us are rather anxious and scared at the same time! How have u been feeling though? Sleep any better? Ask DH to massage u...it has helped me a lottttt...sleep like a baby after :) All the best! edited by tanya80 on 01/05/2011

Leen really?? I'm so worried that will happen with me! I guess sometimes its better not to know so you don't focus too much on it... Tanya you are so lucky! How many weeks are you now? I had my appointment today too, I had the ctg monitoring, but spoke to Dr about it and said my insurance does not cover maternity at all and it works out rather expensive for me to have it done every week. It costs over 200 dhs every time. She then said agreed with me that it was rather pricey and I did not need to get it done esp if I was paying for it! Luckily she did not charge me for the monitoring I had today. And she did not do an internal exam either??!! So I'm still not sure if I am even dilated or not! So frustrating, I really wish things would start to happen. I think I know I'm so close that waiting is just not working for me! I can't do waiting! Oh Tanya she did say to me though that if you get induced, the drugs they use for induction, are found naturally in semen, so she said if we do what got the baby in there in the first place, it helps to get things moving(only if your waters have not broken) You should have seen the sheer look of horror on my DH's face when she said this, me on the other hand had a big grin on my face!!! :)

Just a funny story about the contraction thing. In my 2nd i started to feel contractions when i was 8 months pregnant that lasted for hours then went. When it was time for the baby to come out i waited 7 hours before i actually recognized that these were true labour contractions. When i reached the hospital, i was 7 cm dilated and gave birth in less than an hour. It's easier when ur water breaks first :)

So update on baby front...had my exam today and things have progressed! Only problem was BP which was 89 systolic which isn't a good thing...Doc offered to do sweep the membranes and I agreed so now we wait! If nothing happens I am scheduled for an induction on May 5th...the official due date :) A few more days to go! Cannot wait :D

HAHAHA!!!!! Tanya mine feel the same, I try to get up and walk around and change position, but they are still there. Like you mine are also very erratic, sometimes they will be close together, and other times they will be an hour apart! Hard to tell. good luck everyone and I hope your journeys are coming to an end soon and you get to see your little ones soon!
