Dubizzle & buying 2nd hand cars

Question about buying cars on dubizzle website - has anyone had any bad experiences on this website or is it pretty much safe and trustworthy? I've changed my idea of leasing a car when we get to Dubai, to buying a 2nd hand small 4x4, like a Jeep or Rav4 (in fact if any of you ladies know of anyone selling that kind of car, do let me know!), and Dubizzle seems to be the only online way of browsing cars.
Any tips greatly appreciated :)

you can also check www.gnads4u.com I have sold my car over dubizzle and it was fine. You just need to deal with 2 out of 10 calls being weirdos but hey :-)

Bought a car on dubizzle. It took 6 months of searching but got the one I wanted at the price I wanted. My first question is always: I am calling about the car....best way to know whether you deal privately rather than with a dealer.Important to organise test drive preferably from home of owner of the car (another way to check car is privately sold) and do your home work (check logbook, repair receipt and ask questions about the car and its history). Good luck with the search.

We have sold two and bought 1 car off dubizzle, Its just like newspaper classified so its a medium you need to do your diligence on the vehicle. have the car carefully checked and tested so that there are no issues and people tend to put their prices slightly up. CAn I ask about insurance? I have heard varied quotes on how insurance is calculated? We will be buying a car in August in Dubai- system is totallly different than in US.......

Dubizzle as a medium is fine. As Zeynab says due dilligence needs to be done on what you're buying - becuase in the end while most people are legitimately selling a good product, there are the dodgy ones on there. The tone of the ad and the details and language are usually a good indication of whether you should bother calling for a first check at all. We've bought and sold off dubizzle quite successfully in the past. I do have a Jeep Cherokee for sale on there right now. If you're interested, i can send you an email with the details. Yes please! Sent you mail... you can remove your address if you like :)
