DEWA authorised to levy fuel surcharge upon the consumers with their monthly utility bills.

The average fuel price for the year 2010 would be the basis for calculating the difference in fuel prices.

The surcharge would be fixed and distributed to the consumers on a monthly basis.

However, the monthly bills for housing and farms of UAE citizens are excluded from the surcharge.

I suppose this means our bills are set to increase even more!

Really? I reckon I pay more here but probably had my heating on more than my AC here. :) Excluding the coucil tax which was 160 pounds amonth, our gas was 100 and electricity was 60, water was cheaper at 30. My Dewa including housing fee is around 900dhs a month, we are only in apartment here thou. edited by salsB on 14/07/2011 You forgot the new housing tax and maintenance of grounds fee we pay here. Sometimes I think its hardly worth being here with all the hidden taxes and poor service.

I believe they are already doing this as we were charged it on last months bill. You are right, there was a surcharge announced in Jan this year based on actual price to DEWA, the announcement in the press today reports the offcial decree for authorising it. Well I hope its only that and not yet another surcharge. http://gulfnews.com/business/general/dewa-to-introduce-fuel-surcharge-1.838387 If its the same one they announced in Jan, I wonder how they were applying the surcharge before it was officially authorised though? edited by Di@DXB on 14/07/2011

So the fuel charge is for the delivery of Electricity and water to our homes ??????? edited by salsB on 14/07/2011 Its a surcharge on the price of electricity which will reflect global oil prices, so if the oil prices increase the difference in the price will be spread over our bills and it will be featured on the bill as an extra charge which will be variable. edited by Di@DXB on 14/07/2011
