went to mcc and was told that after 3pm we could buy raw meat to take away, went two days ago and was told cant buy raw meat to take away till after iftar. how bizar is that as we could buy in carrefour just up the same side of the mall. crazy or what. you can buy food in carrefour you can buy sweets in the shops etc seem silly to me.

Could be that the butchers weren't at work till shortly before iftar. Yes restaurants and coffee shops etc had to in excess of 5000 aed to have a permit to deliver/take away food during Ramadan. Not sure if it was each company or more likely each branch had to pay individually.

Mammamia places definitely need to apply for a license to offer takeaway services during Ramadan.

Makes sense if they are not allowed for take aways; by the way - do restaurants have to pay something for the "take away permit"?

Not really - seems quite logical really; probably is classed as a restaurant and as such is not allowed to serve food before iftar.

How completely and totally ridiculous! Each year it seems more rules are added to the rule book.
