Expedia - multiple airlines/continuous journey?

Hoping someone can answer this. I'm looking to book a flight to the US, and the cheapest option on Expedia involves a QA flight to London then a BA from London to Philadelphia. If I book this as a single journey (not two separate tickets) does this mean that when I check in in London my bags will be checked in all the way to the US? I would HATE to have to reclaim and re-check in London.

Will posted this on the Qatar board. Re-posting here as there is generally a lot more traffic here...

Thanks in advance!

it should be fine, just call the airline and ask if they have a baggage agreement with the connecting airline. Like Last year we traveled from Salt Lake City to Chicago via Delta, then Chicago to here via Etihad and the Delta rep just made sure they had a luggage agreement with Etihad and it was all good.

Last year we flew to New York via London and there were 2 airlines involved on our return (BA and AA). Our bags were booked through and we had a long layover in London so we left LHR took the tube into town and returned 8 hours later after meeting friends for lunch!!

I book through Expedia and my bags have always been checked through even with different airlines (EK and Air Canada this summer as one example, EK and Malaysian last year as another). They may not be able to check YOU all the way through and give you boarding cards for all sectors when you check in for your first flight so you may have to go to the transit desk for new boarding cards. If you can check-in online and print out your own boarding passes then that makes it easier.

Hi Rachel Usually if there are 2 different airlines involved then you have to collect and recheck it Some airlines may do this for you ( You have to call them) however if there are any delays etc with baggage/flights the airline will not claim responsibilty Hope this helps
