I think if a thread is so bad that someone feels the need to object to it, it needs to go. But there've been some crazy threads here in the past that have been allowed to grow and fester, and the fun ones that have been deleted just because they were fun.
For example, I recently requested that some threads be deleted, not because they offended me but because people had quoted my e-mail address and I could not delete that.
P-o-w-e-r! The mods have it. We don't. Simple.
btw Some of the deletions are not really deletions, they have just been moved to some other place (you will probably never find it, this site can be hard to manoever...use the search string to look for it). Like if you talk about a book, it will go to book club page (if it still exists).
it's all in the thread "forum rules"
We are sometimes contacted by person, a poster or a company, who wish to have a particular thread removed for some reason - incorrect facts, damaging to them personally or professionally, personal situations they do not wish to be discussed publicly, too much information, original poster wants it removed etc. etc. and this is done, without entering into any debate on the board, as to why a particular thread has been removed. We do not differentiate between site sponsors and non-sponsors, posters and non-posters. We will delete any thread whenever requested by anyone. Email [email protected]
They recently made the "delete any thread when requested" bit in bold letters lol
Sometimes a thread can be removed if only one person finds it offensive and requests it to be deleted.
Just like that? Seriously?
Reading the rules, this could lead to the ban of a users only because one single user repeadetly marks her as offensive.
Can you please clarify?
(just to understand the spirit of this forum and consequently what is expected and what to expect).
Thank you!
If I ask for a thread to be deleted because there is something I don't like on it (whatever it may be), it will be deleted. It doesn't necessarily have to be something offensive. It could be that someone wrote something personal that she cannot delete because someone quoted her.
I wouldn't think an individual user could be banned just because one person gets offended. I think it is the moderators who have the final word in that matter.
Ah ok, thanks!

I was wondering the same thing, I guess it's not always about the subject of the thread but the replies! I posted a question a few days ago and the next day when I wanted to add a reply it said "the topic is closed" :\: I don't know why, the tread is still there but nothing can be added to it.
Check out the thread "Forum Rules" for more information. Advertising, meet-ups, and offensive threads are usually removed. Sometimes a thread can be removed if only one person finds it offensive and requests it to be deleted.
