One of my Husband's friends has recently sent his wife and son (9) to live in the UK. The boy goes to a state school. They have bought a house, so there is no rent. He sends them £3000 monthly. Wife has called and said living on this amount is very difficult and that he should send £5000 a month. Poor guy knows nothing about the cost of living in the UK, so he called DH for advice. DH asked me, and I am asking you!:)))

I personally think 3000 is more than enough and 5000 is way too much! Oh by the way, they won't be paying for utilities from this money either, as other arrangements ave been made.

Thanks:)

Blimey, lucky woman! We currently live very close to Manchester and rent a house, run a car, have LO in nursery for a couple of mornings a week, pay the utility bills and feed ourselves for less than £3000 a month... If we had £5000 to spend a month we would be in heaven! Since she doesn't have rent, utility bills or school fees she must be living the high life to get through that amount, poor diddums is all I can say!

Some women can be so ungrateful honestly. The poor man has spent over 300000 dollars to get them to the UK in the first place. Then the cost of a new house? He still can't leave his home country cause he can't support them without his work there. He has even askd my husband to buy a whole lot of AppLe products for them on his next trip there.Everything from iPhones and iPads to MacBook air and a 27 inch iMac! And now instead of appreciating a man like this, she is just thinking of just getting more and more! And no I am not judging, I have known them very very well for years! Some strange wives out there! Thanks for your help everyone i will make sure hubby informs his friend.

For two people, you can live VERY comfortably on GBP3000 a month in the UK when you have no rent/mortgage, bills or school fees to pay!! ETA - Unless they have a "lifestyle" to fund. edited by Sugarbeach on 10/10/2011
