Hello

About a month ago, the 'new flyover' by the Green Community Roundabout opened... brilliant! Took most of the lorrys away. Then, RTA decided to change the timing of the lights! I leave the GC three mornings a week around 7.30am, (when its pretty busy anyway) the congestion is NOW terrible!! Obviously RTA did not do their research very well, instead of traffic easing up, its got worse! There are going to be some mega crashes if they dont do anything about this! Anyone else think the same? Anyone know any 'contacts' in RTA who could address this problem? :(

I used to live up that way, and that roundabout used to drive everyone mad!!!!! I did once time how long I sat at the lights...... 8 minutes!!!!!!

I totally agree with all of you - drives me and DH raving mad!! After a nightmare queue to get out of GC - and yes, I only let out 1 car at a time ;) to now get caught in 2 sets of traffic lights on the R/A is soooo frustrating!! Returning is no better as the exit from the Jebel Ali port is blocked by traffic stuck at the next lights and so only allows a few cars out at a time. We have rung the RTA and emailed about the R/A - the more of us that do so, the more likely we are to get something changed. I will also be contacting them about the GC exits but wanted them to sort the R/A out first!

@Maxi-Mum - I still let one car in, but I'm quite insistent on only letting that one car in ;) I suppose it takes practice... After 6 months of driving here some things are still a challenge! I've been here 6 years, so I do have some experience on ya :) I have to say, the lights out tonight made it smooooooth sailing and I was late coming home, so it was about 530 when I hit the roundabout - perfect and everyone was driving properly :)

I agree the traffic is worse than ever . When I came home today the lights were out and it was great straight round . They used to turn the lights off on a night time and thursday night to saturday morning years ago and that made you feel a little better about living here and negotiating that B......y island . They could easily put a new exit/entrance onto emirates road from by the new medical centre that would ease congestion and accidents as all the accidents seem to be after the island on the way into GC now !

Another problem that totally IRKS me, is the situation leaving GC and the 2 exits. Could ppl please stick to the let one person out rule instead of blocking everyone and making us all wait in endless lines so that the 25 cars can go through. It takes me longer to actually leave GC because of this problem than it takes me to get anywhere I need to go in Dubai. Arrrrrrr - so annoying. I used to stop to let a car in, but then everyone behind the car I just let in just keeps going, leaving me stranded and unable to move forward, with other drivers hooting at me from behind. So now I stopped doing it, sorry to the people trying to get out of GC, you may thank those who take advantage of our courtesy!

I leave GC about that time every morning and it's a nightmare. I'm sure you can send in comments via the RTA web site. When they first put lights on the AL Khail roundabout the timing was not quite right and it caused huge delays coming from the Ranches. They did sort it out so they seem to respond to cfeedback or maybe they monitor traffic flow themselves and fine tune the timing of the lights.
