Appealing a parking fine?

Is there any point? We got a totally undeserved parking fine yesterday. It was for supposedly parking in an "illegal spot" although we were in a bay and next to a load of other cars!!??? We couldn't see the parking attendant to quiz him, conveniently. We'd even paid for parking and displayed our ticket. Why would we park there illegally knowingly, AND pay for it?! They're so dumb. Anyway, I want to appeal it but not if there's no point at all. If we're going to end up paying it anyway, I'd rather just get it out of the way and forget about it. Has anyone had success with appealing fines?
I've had just about enough of this country - what with having to get letters of no objection from your employer for every damn thing, and then salary certificates, and oh then, lo and behold, your visa arrives, but you can't drive with a UK licence all of a sudden!!! Where's the logic in this God forsaken country?!?!?!?! AARRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Thank you for your responses...I'm going to go with Dubai cat's suggestion and forget the whole thing, and go for a pedicure instead :) Not worth the time. I didn't take photos at the time to prove where I was parked as it wasn't until we were driving down Sheikh Zayed Road that we noticed the flappy bit of paper stuck under the windscreen wiper!!!

I'm just about to appeal against a parking fine. I've just got off the phone to the RTA. Email complaints to [email protected]. Include your phone number, name and a copy of your fine and also a copy of your registration card. I paid for my parking ticket by sms and got confirmation message back and a couple of hours later got a message saying if I wanted to extend my parking. Got back to my car and found a ticket on the windscreen about 30 minutes after I had got confirmation saying that it was all paid. The nice people at RTA have said if I do all of the above my fine will be cancelled. In the meantime, though I may still have to pay the fine as my car needs to be reregistered on the 4 November. By the way for anyone that is interested. It's a AED 25 fine per month if your registration card is has expired.

AARRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!! yes once you get residence then you are allowed to drive a private vehicle as well as a rental car, so then it means that you have to get a taxi or someone else drives you to exchange your licence for a uae one, at least you dont have to do the driving test, whereby you could not drive your own car for many months. so its one of the rules here, so be it its not a big one.

I got a parking fine once because I stupidly put the valid parking ticket underneath the expired one. The inspector was still there so I showed him both tickets. He shrugged his shoulders and told me to call the number on the ticket. I called the number, they told me to fax copies of the tickets, I faxed copies of the tickets, nothing happened and I had to pay the fine. So no, I'd say it's not wasting an hour of your life. Go get a pedicure or something - at least that's reasonably productive and you end up with nice toes.
