Hi dibdab..I second river85 recommendation. I also use dermalogica. Have been using it for over a year now and quite happy with it. However, I personally feel its a combination of diet, exercise, hereditary and then what products you use that improves or maintains your skin condition. Most products can not change a skin type or skin issues. I could be wrong but I haven't been proven otherwise as I have been trying to get rid off my open pores and redness since teenage years but no success. Some products have made it worse but dermalogica has maintained my skin so no such improvements that I can swear by. But I am happy with it. I suggest you buy trial sizes of the products and give them a shot for a few months at a time to see how you feel. Do you research, narrow the product list down to 3 or 4 and then do this. Do be aware that your skin may change during winter and summer so do take that into account. Also look into Guinot, Thalgo as these are also very well known brands which I tried and was happy with. I tried many others too but not satisfied with them. Its a personal thing. Good Luck!!

I use www.beautypedia.com when I want impartial, informed skin care advice. This lady, Paula Begoun, really knows her stuff!

Thanks river85, it is good to hear from someone who has tried a few products. I had heard good things about dermalogica before too so I might go and have a look.

hi, not sure where will give impartial advice. but personally i have tried and tested almost every range out there and i have settled with dermalogica. they do a spf product called solar booster (or something like that) which u can add to any moisturiser which is great. i have oily combination skin and dermalogica has worked wonders. they do 'try me' kits which are a good idea too. alpha h is great too, but havent found it here, they have a daily essential moisturiser spf 30+ that i love, i brought some with me from uk.

Does anyone know where to get skincare advice which is not biased towards a particular brand? I would like a new moisturiser (my current one doesn't contain SPF) and an eye cream (no problems yet but want to take preventative measures) - but I know that if I go into a department store or wherever then each girl will tell me that their product is the best on the market - is there anyone who represents multiple brands?
