Becoming frustrated with my journey for a baby, I am know I am not alone but I need some help figuring out what is happening with me or likely to happen. I am 40 have been pregnant but sadly had to terminate due to an abnormality which was "not compatible with life.". I have high FSH - 16 and my antral follicle count is low - I make three maybe four follicles on a good month but I have no problem becoming pregnant.
I am with Dr. Fakih and while I believe he and his staff are wonderfully adept I have difficulty communicating with them and getting an idea of "what is next" or getting any information about my chances, what they intend to do etc. I am doing natural IVF because a full IVF with drugs, they believe, will result in no more eggs than the single one.
I am disheartened and hoped maybe someone in a similar situation could share some stories or anyone with Fakih could give me tips on how to better get information from them. Thank you!

Hi fandrew I'm a Fakih patient, I fully agree with the other ladies about him, if you do email or text him and mention your concerns he does get back to you ASAP. What I have done in the past is see his wife dr Amal who is a wonderful woman I've both their contacts if you want them After seeing dgcf and speaking with Bourne hall I honestly still feel Fakih is the only one to help us achieve our dreams Good luck I hope you get some answers and advice soon edited by nickym1d on 17/12/2012 Thanks everyone! I had forgotten this thread and now feel a bit better. I will go back to Fakih for one last shot and then maybe give up. :-)

Hello Fandrew I had a similar experience with Dr.Fakih - I found him a bit ''rough''. Although the results are there & the team members are professional & pleasant, I find it difficult to communicate. I thought it was only me, so I'm quite glad to know that some other patients feel the same way. They're all very busy & I'm under the impression that my questions [I've got quite a lot'> are a bit too much for them, since they have to rush to see the next patient... Anyway that the way it is & as Mummabear said, if he can get you pregnant, that all that matters...:-)) Good luck

Ive had two failed cycles with Concieve in Sharjah and now changed to Dr Fakih and I am pregnant with twins, in my personal opinion Dr Fakihs clinic are way more ahead than Conceive. A lot of people don't like Dr Fakih and I hear them slagging him off a lot, (I personally had no problem with him and neither did my DH), there is a reason why he has such high success rates, at the end of the day if he can get you pregnant then thats all that matters doesnt it? His clinic is by far the most up to date, modern with the best equipment and procedures, these things are very important in IVF and think made a big difference for us. We initially went with Conceive because of the good comments Dr Pankaj, sadly he couldnt get me pregnant on the two cycles and wasnt even going to change anything for the third cycle or do any tests so we changed. From my personal experience we felt there was absolutely no comparison on the two clinics. I highly recommend Dr Fakih and his staff, I am still going there now for all my scans and have no fault with them. Fandrew, when ever I had a query I emailed Henriette and she would check with Dr Amal or Dr Fakih and get back to me, I found them to be very responsive and I was emailing them all the time about random stuff. [email protected] Best of luck MB xxx

Thanks to everyone, Oops I did not know there was a pregnancy specific board so sorry for posting here :-) I think I feel confused and as if this is the end of the road for me even though it was only my second IUI try. I will check the other message boards mentioned and even the other clinics :-)

When we were contemplating IVF we went to both DFC and Conceive in Sharjah for appointments. Overall I got a better feeling from conceive and we went with them. I found all the staff to be far more helpful. The nurses were very clued up, and the receptionists were excellent which is important as you end up going backwards and forwards a lot. I found the doctor there much more hands on and patient with our questions initially. For example, the doctor at DFC told me to go and get a scan of my ovaries, where as the dr at Conceive did it himself. Once you are in the system however I did feel like I was a bit on my own. I was seeing dr Ou for acupuncture, and found that to be a great support as she has dealt with many woman going through the process, and guided me as to what to expect. Would highly recommend her! Best to start a few months before you have treatment. I was incredibly lucky, and we were successful on our first attempt at Conceive in Sharjah. Good luck!

hi, fandrew I am really sorry you are going through this, not an easy journey. my cyber hugs to you and all ladies going through IF. I would really advise you and all others to learn more about treatments, protocols, new meds, things to improve, avoid, etc. spending more than 1 hour with a dr not enough to get answers for everything. www.fertilethoughts.com was a great place to learn especially with high-tech procedures and to ask tons of questions from other ladies in a similar situation, like PCOS, Endometriosis, or high FSH, etc. lots to learn about underlining issues, could be immune issues, too. Specific boards for each of diagnosis, and ladies are sharing / comparing the treatments, in addition having a cycle buddy gives lots of support. There are lots of women has done tons of research, and happy to share with newbies. I hated to be in dark and needed to know everything, Believe me I spent days and nights reading, reading, reading, until I had a perfect picture. Printed my calendar for that cycle and took it with me to the dr, for him to put all the notes in there. I wanted to be prepared for all the steps what if Plan A doesn't work, what is the Plan B, etc? Can we change this and that, etc.... I had plan A and B. I know many doctors doesn't like to hear that from a patient, but it is good to be empowered and openly to discuss with the doctors all the options, and if's.... Good luck with Dr. Fakih and hopefully this cycle will bring your long awaited baby. Fandrew my advise is to make an appointment with dr Wael or dr Mohamed at the DGFC. They take the time to talk to you personally and explain every little detail. I've seen both doctors, Fakih and Wael ,and I will go back to Dr Wael anytime. Hope I've been of a little help to you. Good luck and lots of baby dust!

gosh fandrew, so many women here on EW rave about Dr Fakih and how brilliant his team is etc etc, but I presumed there would be lots of communication and step by step explanation - a plan as it were. Did you put this Q on the 'pregnancy' forum for someone to read? Weekends a lot of EW dont log on so maybe tomorrow. We are also due to see him

Sorry fandrew, I don't have any information on Dr Fakih, but have you tried doing a search for him on EW. I am sure that he has come up many times on here before. Good luck x
