Mina a Salam Brunch - Al Muna vs Wharf??

I just booked the Mina a Salam brunch for tomorrow but they said they couldn't give us a table at Al Muna but could give us one at the Wharf but that it's basically the same.
True? Not as nice? I've never been so not sure if/how sitting at the Wharf may be different from being seated in Al Muna.

Thanks

Hey there Went to Al Muna brunch this weekend and it was fantastic - a real treat! We were given a table in the Wharf restaurant (outside) - was quite hot but we were right on the canal and went inside to cool down from time to time. The food was superb - Zheng He was a bit of a long trek but was nice as you could space out the eating rather than the usual guzzle! The Al Muna food was amazing seafood (oysters, crab legs etc), British roast, curry, pasta and salads whereas the Wharf was pretty much all p**k! There were outdoor cooking stations all around the canal, and loads of different drinks - DH was in heaven! Quality and service was amazing and with the vouchers worked out really reasonable - about 225aed for non drinking and 280dhs with drinks. Jumeirah IMO is in a league of its own with regards to food quality and hospitality. Highly recommend! Thanks ;)

Am going this weekend so will let you know. Altho we've booked a table outside and I am starting to think that is a bad idea! You never know, the weather might be cool enough to sit out when you go...? Hi Dangerous Blonde, did you to to Al Muna? How was it?

Am sure most of you brunchies have already been but if not you MUST go to Al Qasr brunch. Went last week once again. It is 525aed and worth every single penny, I know it is quite a ridiculous amount to pay and I am always looking to use Entertainer vouchers where I can but every now and then my big treat is Al Qasr brunch. Have never had any problems there with AC, the food is outstanding, the selction of f&B OMG! Quality!!!! I cannot understand how Mina A Salam and Al Qasr can be so different being part of the same resort...

Went 2 weeks ago and sat outside. DH found it hot but doesn't complain and I thought it was lovely. The weather is getting cooler by the day so go and enjoy the outdoors and a fab Brunch at Al Muna edited by basil on 21/10/2012

You never know, the weather might be cool enough to sit out when you go...? We sat outside at Al Muna last saturday night and it did get quite warm. Kept going inside for a blast of air con and food!

At this risk of saying I told you so (but I did!) eating indoors here gets pretty toasty and is much nicer outside. The area outside Al Muna is very shaded so should be OK now.

Had anyone gone there recently? Had they fix the AC? I have booked for begining Nov, since my Mum is here. DH will not be impressed to pay 390aed with no AC.

I was Al Muna in June, sat near the door, it was open more than closed, very warm, but I do think the air con just isn't at a decent temp. Rang today to book for Friday, the price had increased now from 425 to 475. Anyone have vouchers they don't need or want, will swap for FD??? Jobert, we didn't do an awful lot better! We were in the Wharf, as I said, and must admit, was NOT impressed when I saw just hw far we had to walk to get to Al Muna. It's hardly far but when I specifically asked the question and considering that you're walking outdoors in this sun, I wasn't impressed. Anyway, sat down and immediately began to warm up by the second. I assumed it was just because of the door constantly being opened but it got to the point (very quickly) that I actually couldn't eat, I felt so ill. Granted, I really don't handle heat well. However, all this said, it turned out that the air-con was actually acting up and the manager was smashing about the whole thing and was really even nicer than he needed to be. As I said to him, I had been thinking I would never go back there but what with his handling of it all, I will. For sure. In winter!!

went to al muna brunch the other week to find it 32 degrees INDOORS. after trying to get to speak to the manager for an hour, we were offered cold towels and were promised the situation would be taken care of. one and a half hours later all ladies had their hair tied up, men unbuttoned their shirts and almost everyone with a towel around their necks we were offered to move to a different restaurant for the remaining hour. While the manager was at our table one of my friends found a big piece of glass in their drink and we then just decided to give up and leave and of course not being asked to pay... the whole restaurant was packed, way overcrowded so not a surprise the ACs couldn't cope. Shame coz it used to be great a few years ago and with the entertainer it is a great deal. hope they've learned sth from that day and that you'll have a great experience. do give us some feedback. Would consider to try one more time if things change as I do love most of the Jumeirah restaurants.

I have one voucher left for al muna, dangerous blonde. Are you interested? Do you have by any chance one voucher for asado in the FD book?

I went last week to the wharf brunch. The food was not outside (i think in winter, buffet is outside, so right in between the 2 restaurants) it was divided between the wharf (mostly p*rk section) and the main buffet was inside the al muna restaurant. Nobody was seating/eating outside, because it was still too hot. You can use the entertainer vouchers (family) for both restaurants. HTH

I wouldn't sit outside, far too hot for me yet. I have sat in both restaurants and I didn't think one was better than the other. The childrens play area is in The Wharf so good to be in that restaurant if you have little ones, but we didn't have loads of kids running about so don't let that put you off. Also the majority of the food in The Wharf contains p0rk so if that's a problem I would go for Al Muna. I wouldn't worry too much, it's a great brunch and as long as you get a table inside you can wander about and get a feel for the other restaurant for next time.

Isn't outdoors worse in terms of heat?? She offered outdoors but I thought she was mad! Or am I missing something. Is it not really outside? Or are there misters or some such. By the sounds of it though, if sitting indoors (which we currently are doing) we're actually better off at the Wharf. I can handle a bit dim but not hot.

It's the same food in both with the added bonus of a p*rk section and cheese room, plus there are outside food stations / cocktail stations. The outside stations conect the two restaurants, which are very close and you can you both. If you're sitting indoors, then I find the Wharf too dark and Al Muna a bit hot / noisy.
