If your child is hospitalized and you have a sick leave certificate from the hospital, can you use this to deduct your missed days from work as Sick Leave instead of regular personal leave days?

Does anyone know/ has had to deal with this? What does the law say?

Sick leave requires a formal medical certificate from the hospital. You would need to ask your employer for personal leave without pay or compassionate leave if your child is really ill. Each company organises this differently and there is no fast rule for what you are entitled to. Certainly, I would be honest with my employer. Dubai is a small place, in fact. I would not say I was sick if I was not. If just sick, as a working mother, you need arrangements in place for maid/nanny etc to be available for child care when you are at work and your child is at home during the week. Good luck

It all depends on your employer. They deduct mine as ' compassionate leave ' and they dont take it from my holidays which im greatful for.

I think you need to take annual leave or unpaid leave. Employers give sick leave based on sickness certificate for us not our children.
