You may have grown up in a closed gated community .
erm so it's ok for the boys to run around as children without tops on then? See you're already s.e.xualizing girls from a young age by stating such things. And sorry but that is wrong, you've already taken away the innocence and imprinted adult attributes to them by saying that.
I grew up in Saudi as a child and ran around in the buff the majority of the time, no issues.

Arohadbxd,
What age is your daughter ?
Girls can start to develope at 7 years old and living in the Middle East it is not appropriate in public to have children even young children/toddlers going around at public pools etc with nothing covering their nipples.
You must come from a different culture and not realise what is appropriate living in U A E.

I don't like it either. DD who's 12 needed a new bikini and all the ones that fit her I don't like. They are the same shape top as in the article and think the bottoms are too 'brief'.
What happened to just being a kid? I didnt want a bikini till I was 17. I just feel like this stuff also feeds men's minds-even ones that are not pedophiles-that these girls are grown up. I have seen some 12 year olds look like 20 year old women. And it makes me sad that the girls are being taught to equate their self worth with how attractive they are to boys. And then some women tell me, its a different generation, blah blah, I disagree though.
But my daughter has worn a bikini just about her whole life, and has only in the last year or so graduated to wearing the top half of it...and for me that is innocence, in it's purist form She's like a young healthy animal completely unaware of her body. I was never going to be the one who made her feel she should cover, that she should feel any shame about her nudity.
That said, for her age it IS possible to buy age appropriate, sporty bikinis that don't send out any kind of sexual message. I imagine that gets a darn sight harder as they start hitting the pre teens. And by the looks of this article a lot earlier than just pre teens too.
Having said all that, I refused to buy anything from Pumpkin Patch last year much to lil miss's disgust, as it was all black skinny jeans and purple sequined tops etc. Totally young women clubbing attire. Wrong de wrong wrong
Ah, of course, thats different. A little girl in bottoms and no top, is innocent in enough. Its when they are wearing a padded top thats creepy-thats trying to make it look like she has little boobs? I meant I didnt want a bikini-like a grown up woman's until I was much older-before that, I didnt care what I was wearing as long as I was n the water having fun.

Is it any wonder why men in countries who do not get to see their wifes look as us and our children in a manner which is not very nice.
I agree. I feel like if you are dressing up your 12 year old to look like 20 year old stripper, you are asking for trouble. And its not just from men from certain countries...its all men. Men are visual. If they see what they think is a young woman dressed like she is up for it, thats what they see. But also, it just drives me nuts that girls are being taught that this is all their worth. Their sexiness is all they have. and the padded bikinis-yes lets them feel imperfect and in need of breast enhancment as early as possible. WTF.

I wouldn't put my 8 and 12 year old daughters in them, and neither would they want to wear them. Not every kid or every parent is going to want this type of clothing, you can't change the minds of either side so why bother trying.
I don't think you are the only one, and going by the tone of the article and the responses to it, i think the way you feel (and myself) are by far in the majority.
Well, I have to hope so, now all I can think about is that crazy woman waxing and botoxing her 8 year old. Sicko
You are right perhaps the majority doesn't agree, but enough do to the point there is a market for it? I know it happens in the west, but I actually feel like...please don't shoot me...some of the arab mommies, not gulf, levant arab, think its adorable to have their 7 year olds in tube tops and clothing that looks like it should be on an adult stripper.

Completely agree, sadly kids are deprived of their childhood IMO these days. I am glad I grew up in an age when we were allowed to enjoy the innocence of childhood. Its the forces of pedophalia that have taken over the retail industry and its up to parents to resist and protest. I actually saw outfits for sale here for age 2 to 3 years that were exactly replicas of a belly dancers outfit with the tassles on the breasts.
Agree with you NYCdoll, these padding items such as bra's have been around for children for some time as are many many clothes reflecting adult clothing.
Thanks goes to these famous movie stars , music stars and footballers/sports stars and who ever else set such a bad example and people allow their children to follow it. I know you cannot stop everything but some things are not healthy such as young *** symbols, inappropiate clothing, drugs, alcohol seen as acceptable at a young age.
We need better role models, with grace and dignity .
Children are being treated as mini adults for a long time now and many people see no problem with it and difficult for parents as not enough parents will stand up and say NO so the trend becomes exceptable.
