Hi ladies, just a quickie, hope someone can help. I have no idea on the going rate of language tutoring for adults and children. I will check out Eton Language Institute too, but since I would prefer to learn from home with a private tutor I need an idea of what the normal rate is? Any ideas? Thanks:)

Sorry but in other parts of the world, I am sure you could find a qualified tutor of any subject for less than 250 AED per hour! That equates to 68 USD!!!!!! no way would it cost that much. Also, many of the language tutors here are Mums looking for a little extra cash. Not even qualified. edited by derien on 22/09/2011

I pay 200 for one hour, not 45 mins. Quite possibly the charge is more now to newer clients but we have been a client for 2 years. He is worth every fils in my book. Also to say he is UK university educated and brought up in Dubai. edited by BNBH on 22/09/2011

Interestingly enough, a language institute in Knowledge Village (E....n) wanted to hire my services for AED 100 an hour. I wonder who they get for these rates and how much they charge the clients. I cannot believe any real qualified teacher would work for this kind of money! edited by Annick on 22/09/2011

A lot of teachers use tutoring to top up their meagre salaries sadly, there are also tutors who are advertising who have no qualifications to do so, do becareful. edited by Lady Farquhar on 22/09/2011

I think there are not as many good tutors in Dubai than back home and the demand here is quite high too. Plus people tend to ear way more (taxfree) in Dubai so I think the tutors should also make a little more.

Blimey, what a rip off. I have an Oxford educated Dr of science tutor my child in the UK. She charges £20 per hour. Why are Dubai tutors charging over £30 for 45 minutes ? Wow, that is a good deal
