Has anyone had books 'delivered' successfully from them?
I ordered 12 books over month ago which took up to a week to have dispatched from their end (individually!) and never got them in time for Christmas … OK maybe was pushing my luck by ordering them so close to Christmas but I never thought it would take them so long to send them and also understood they were couriering them from the way they are phrasing it in their marketing slogan 'delivered worldwide for free' so if they had sent it by courier it would have taken a maximum of one week.
So I still have not received anything and after following up with them, they are saying that it is delivered via regular post (????!!!!) and that because I didn't state the PO Box number, the books probably never made it! I actually did put the PO Box number in the ZIP/Postal code field and didn't think it would be too important as I thought they were delivered via courier. Have checked with my local post office in Barsha in case they had them on hold but nothing there. The post office have also told me that unless the books are sent via registered mail, I will need to collect them from the central post office in Karama. This defeats the whole purpose of ordering online!
I am quite annoyed that the books depository website is misleading in the way they phrase that books are delivered for free - this reads to me as if they are having them sent via courier. If they are just sending them via regular mail, they should be clear about it. I have finally found a short sentence in their FAQs page where they say the method used for 'delivering'.
So rant over and now, could anyone that has used this website tell me how I should go about it to get my books?
Many thanks

How does free delivery translate to courier ? I ordered a load of things last Christmas on one order yet they all came individually and spaced over quite a while..Didn't use them this Christmas as I felt they might not arrive in time but otherwise I was happy with the service...It never occurred to me to not put my PO Box in the correct place on the form - seems that's where it's gone wrong and Karama would be your best bet to find the parcels...

I have ordered from them several times and it seems to be a bit hit-and-miss. One of my deliveries didn't arrive for 5 weeks so I contacted them for a refund, which they gave without any argument. The book arrived a week later. When I contacted them to make the payment again, they told me to keep the book as a gift from them. Last time I ordered several books at the same time and one of them did not turn up. Obviously they all had the same delivery address, so I think that the problem may be with customs. I also bought some sheet music from an online music shop in September which never arrived. Wouldn't it be nice if they sorted out the postal system? I miss my postman!

I order from them quite often. Yes, delivery does take awhile...sometimes well over 3 weeks...but it's not a big deal. Once when I was waiting almost a month for one book...I contacted them and they sent out another one. The first one ended up arriving but they told me to keep both. The delays are on this end anyway. I think you're making too much of it...stock up next time you go home or just order a bit earlier and be patient.

How is "Free Shipping" misleading? You're not paying anything extra. Also they never promise that they will deliver within XX working days and post always takes a while. You will need to go to the main Post center or your books will get sent back. It takes 3 weeks for me sometimes so you might need to wait a bit.

Yes I agree with you, it's so annoying to have the books sent individually when that's not how I order them. Plus they wrap them in cardboard so usually they aren't even put in the box so I have to collect them in person from the counter. Still worth it to me though as sometimes I can't find the specific titles here.

I use them all the time. In fact I had ordered several books that stated they were not going to be dispatched for ten days, not in time for Christmas, and actually I got one before Christmas and the rest on the 27th. I never read they used a courier, the post office is still delivery in my opinion since it's only in this region they don't actually deliver via postmen, etc. I always put my box number in properly so I'm sorry but I don't see how they are to blame for that error? There is even a space for 'no zip code'...and I always receive mine in a week to ten days.
