Has anyone got BUPA international as their health cover?

How have you found them, any good?

Any concerns?

Thanks :)

they cover almost everything with no problems. but they don´t cover dermatology for instance, unless your skin is falling apart, which I find ridiculous. they have reduced some ginecology issues as well. they also have an online chat to make all consultations. I never call uk, I chat online.

As the others have said, the doctors we seem to go to don't have direct billing with BUPA International and I when I remember fill in the form, send it to the UK. Have to say they have always paid up pretty quickly with no questions asked. I was thinking about changing from Bupa because of the direct billing but they said that in Dubai they issue everyone with a card from Oman Insurance. I never received the card last year but apparently I will this year! Costly calling the UK but the Customer Service is very efficient when you have any problems.

Big pain is that some drs won't bill them direct so you have to fill in claims forms - eg. Nicollas and Asp for one. Check their list.

Cornish Pixie which insurance company did you change to? Its just that we are new to dubai and have to find our own family medical insurance, and I could really do with some advice! Could anyone else recommend a good cover/price insurance?? Many thanks We went thru a UK broker and ended up with a Luxembourg based company called Globality. This is the website of the broker, they were great to deal with and I procrastinated for months!!! http://www.medibroker.com/ Feel free to say Fiona in Dubai recommended you!

My DH company uses BUPA so we're stuck with them but if I had a choice I would not reccommend them. No dental cover, issues with claims, you need to call each time UK to get problem solved. I would look at AXA. Hello, my DH's company uses BUPA too and we are due to sign up on Friday but I just wanted to know the general consensus on them so if there are any real issues I can see if we can look at someone else. It's so hard to choose when not use to the insurance company system

They are good but EVERY time we try to submit claim online it didn't work, So each time I call and complain. Now I scan and email them the claim direct. I don't know if its just a Mac thing as It did work on Windows once. They rejected a claim once saying Vaccinations on weren't covered on my sons cover, I called and they insisted it wasn't part of it. I had the brochure open in front of me and actually had to quote the section number and statement to them to prove it was included so they refiled it and accepted. Other than that they have been really good. Just always follow your claims through.

Good cover but very expensive! Just be aware that there are also quite a few exclusions - when I had a stress fracture in my foot I opted to wear an orthopedic boot rather than be put into plaster, they deducted the cost of the boot from my claim!!! My DH had special innersoles for his shoes made rather than having a complicated op on his foot/bunion and they didn't pay for them either (over US $1000). We swapped to another provider, after more than 25 years with BUPA, as a year ago they increased our premiums by 28%, sure with this new company we get a lower level of cover but we are saving over $500 a month, so worth it (and we pay ourselves!!).

I was covered with them for years and was very happy but, as with all insurance, make sure to [u'>really[/u'> read the small print.
