They way to do it is from over the crest of a sand dune in the desert. But I guess 80% of DXB would try and use the balcony of their 33rd floor apartment or in the middle of Mushref Park in the summer!! But thanks for the info.

You can buy small popping 'fireworks' in the small roadside stores in Bur Dubai/Karama, but FIREWORKS (pop-in-the-sky style fireworks) are illegal for personal use. The smallpox-on-the-ground style ones still scare me to use around the children, but they are sold. yup if u head into meena bazaar (bur dubai) this week or next you are bound to find them in all the indian stores as it's a VERY popular activity during Diwali! :-) just please make sure you use it in an open an safe area and not within the proximity of trees, wood, etc.

It's illegal to sell fireworks here - although 'some' communities seem to get their hands on them. Only events companies who use pyrotechnics specialists can get them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I -think- buying fireworks here is impossible due to safety and all that. I think you also have to have a licence and permission to set them off at home? I think there's lanterns in Dragonmart if you're happy to let something off into the air this evening :D Otherwise check with the golf clubs or even JBR beach, I imagine there'll be a show at one of them. Thats what i thought! I think the ranches sometimes does something for the 5th November?

Please, please, please do not get lanterns. They are incredibly dangerous to animals and the environment. There has actually been a call to ban them in the UK due to the dangers.

I've seen the sparklers that they put on cakes in the party shops.. but if u are thinking of the tiny metal stick that you light and wave around I haven't seen them for years..

What about something simple like sparklers? Otherwise its such a shame, something a child should always be able to remember and a lesson in how to be responsible..........perhaps we will have to make do with a bonfire and a guy tonight.

Home fireworks are a thing of the 90's. (Due to them being a fire hazard) I doubt you will be able to find them for sale anywhere. Correct me if I'm wrong?
