After a very expensive experience yesterday I am just wondering what the range of charges are for this procedure. Anyone had one done recently?

I had one done a couple of months ago at Dr Akel's dental clinic on the beach road and it was Dhs 3000. Two visits, one to get the imprint (most invasive bit really) and back a week later for the tooth. Painfree and my smile is now lovely - Dr Iyad is a great dentist.

I had one 3 weeks ago, it involved 3 dentist visits one week after another at the Meadows Clinic. Was really happy with the dentist, didn't do any xrays as I'm pregnant and even though it was going througbh on insurance, it costs 2380 Dhs-ish and I paid 20% over the 3 weeks depending what had been done each week. Cost seemed reasonable to me for what was a very comfortable procedure with no pain during or after that I had been dreading!!!

Yes I did ask but didn't expect all the add ons. I was expecting about 2700 but then got hit with another 250 for the consultation, 80 dhs for each x-Ray (3) and then 950 dhs for the filling. Would you not think that the filling was part of the root canal? So total bill was 4140 for what the dentist told me was the easiest and most straightforward root canal - nothing tricky about it. The dentist was already busy with the next patient by the time I got the bill. Ouch-see what you mean-maybe I was lucky mine itemised everything beforehand-and then offered a discount when I looked somewhat horrified!

in my experience, having had numerous root canals and fillings and the whole 9 yards over my short life, I have always sworn i would sell my mother than go through the pain of toothache (and ear ache!) I will pay whatever it costs to make me pain free!!!!;)

Lol! I just want to know the range of prices and some justification for feeling truly ripped off. I have written to them complaining! Just wondering-didn't you get quotes beforehand? My dentist told me the costs and asked if I was happy with the price or wanted to look elsewhere edited by wuffles on 07/06/2011

It could be a mistake to ask this question after the event. You might not like the responses!. x

The cost can vary enormously according to what dentist you visit - my dentist, Dr Madhu charges around AED900. One I had done previously in Bur Dubai was AED3,000 as I remember....a dentist in Healthcare City quoted me AED5,000 which is ridiculous imo.... edited by chizz on 07/06/2011
