OK, that may sound a bit harsh, but is there any way to stop the big brown patches playing join the dots with my lawn?
I didn't notice her pee burning the grass before she was speyed, but boy do we see it now.

If you suspect lawn grubs, you can try flooding the lawn which will make the grubs come to the surface. Try to do it morning or early evening when the birds are around...they'll feast on the grubs and help fix your problem. :)

I wait until she kills the grass, then I cover the patch with new potting compost. The grass grows back fairly quickly, but I just wondered if there was anything I could add to my watering system to help. She has free reign on the garden, and has access to the outside all the time, so catching her peeing, and washing the grass down, isn't easy. nadadanada - my friend has brown patches on her lawn, and the grass is gradually dying all over, but she has no pets. I passed on your comment and she says she has seen big black bugs flying over her 'pitiful'lawn. What did you put on yours, and where did you buy it from? 1st time we bought a HEAVY duty chemical from Dubai Garden Centre called SALUT - you have to ask for it as they don't normally sell it! The 2nd time we bought Provado Lawn Grub Killer. We also use weed n feed from B & Q in UK just to keep it green and healthy. Oh how I miss B & Q!!!!!!

I got some dog rocks after some recommendations on here, but so far its been 3 weeks and there are still new yellow spots appearing on the grass.... I guess the best way really is to throw some water on it.

Unfortunately it is the dog, not a grub. We have a big lawn and the patches are only where we know she pees. Oh well - good job we love her more than we love the lawn :) Awww! :D My old german shepherd used to kill grass with every wee. I found myself studying his habits and stalking him at wee time then racing out like a mad woman to grab the hose to dilute the offending wee. :)

I'm aware that female dogs do have a chemical in their urine that normally makes the grass go a yellow colour, but are you sure it's your pooch doing it? Reason I ask is in 2 of our villas where we've lived, we were getting brown patches (even had one lawn returfed!) and found out it's a type of Bee (well it looks like a big BLACK bee) that lays its eggs in the grass and when you water, these big grubs come up to the surface and it was these critters making our grass brown! We ended up buying a type of lawn grub killer which you apply straight after you've watered as that is when they're at the surface and this kills them. Low and behold it almost looks like a bowling green, well nearly!
