Sorry if this question is dumb but I'm a bit stumped.

I don't see a plug, only this weird thumb sized hole thing. Normally I would plug in a washing machine and be done. Is there something I don't know or something I am missing? My machine arrives today and I want to start on some laundry asap...

SM, I bought a washing machine from C4 a couple of months ago. Someone delivered it and said someone else would call to arrange to plumb it in. Some papers were left for me to sign to say it had been installed and was working which would be taken by the installer. DH ended up doing it instead because we didn't want to wait and DH is more than capable of doing it, but I know that it definitely wasn't installed at the time of delivery. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 04/01/2012

My experience is that usually the distributor brings out an appliance to you even if you have bought elsewhere and they will do it - after all, how can they show you that it is working? They have always done this for washing machines, dishwashers etc ie shown that it works.

As SD says, you may be lucky. We had all our appliances delivered from Geant and they hard-wired the lot for us when they delivered (fridge, dishwasher, washing machine) ...

It depends on where you bought it from - you might be lucky.

Darn. I think the guy delivering is not an installer either. I suppose I am going to have to schedule someone in. Bah. I was hoping to start washing today. :( Oh well. edited by Gummy on 04/01/2012

It sounds like the plug on the washing machine will need to be removed (if it comes with one) and the wires connected directly into the socket (through the hole in the socket plate). The people who install the washing machine should sort this out for you (although I ordered a washing machine from C4 and the people who delivered it were not installers, they would come at a different time).

Yes - it needs to be wired in - would call a qualified electrician to do it for you. Maybe Jim will fix it can do it.
