We're in tower H. Our intercom had stopped working a couple of months ago. We called up Idama and it took them about fifteen minutes to fix it. There was no charge!

Consumer beware of Market Day "discounts" at the local Spinneys. South African oranges are advertised as 11.95aed the bag instead of the regular 17.95aed... I am thinking great and I take two bags...Then when I pay and got my receipt I noticed the discount has not been applied. Its the fourth time it happened to me and I start to feel that I am on purpose ripped off as a customer... every time I come back to the cashier to get refund of the nonexistent discount. This time almost 15 aed!! please check your receipt! It cannot be a bad luck or mistake after 4 times!! Next time I will keep my receipt and lodge a complain to Dubai consumer rights .

Hi, we have had very few issues. There have been some comments that the AC in some buildings are better than others. Ours isn't brilliant in the master bedroom, but after the fourth visit of Taziz to check they told us to close the en suite door (as it only has an extractor vent) and that (along with taking the vent off the blower vent so it doesn't send the cold air straight to the roof) has made a difference (20-21 now as opposed to a lowest of 23 previously). Other than that (and the fact the intercom doesn't work) we love our apartment.

Hi CBD, Not really in response to your question (because I have no idea of the answer and the intercom in Tower H doesn't work either), but I'm about to move to Tower L from Tower H. Are there any issues I should watch out for? I'm presuming all towers are generally the same but who knows! Thanks so much!

Hi ladies! Does anyone who lives in Tower L (West Heights 2) also have an issue with their intercom? I thought the whole system didn't work, but I have since seen people who seem to be able to call the relevant apt so wondering if it is just me. Also, does anyone know the code which you can enter to get through the door without a card. If so, probably best not to put it up on a public forum but if you do I can share my email address. I have more guests coming then I have access cards for - so I either need a working intercom or the code! Thanks!

that's perfect, since after 12:30 there's no more sun at East Heights! I'll just have to move around when I'm working on my tan!

I've been - unfortunately, even after all that time they didn't replace the deadly tiles round the outside, other than that all fine (just looks the same as East Heights to me - but I didn't see what state it was in before). At the moment you can get sun there from about 12.30pm - 3.30pm. Strangely the pool is only open from 9am - 7pm (unlike East Heights which is 6am-10pm). Not sure why the difference, but it won't allow people to go for a swim before/after work. There are various rumours about whether they will now do East Heights but guess we will just have to wait and see.

For the 3 bedroom monthly:- Empower 500 per month standard charge (paid in advance quarterly) - your LL may pay this Empower 200 per month consumption charge DEWA 250 per month consumption charge - we have a tumble drier so your dewa bill may not be as big - our bills don't vary much between summer & winter as we don't find we use more a/c in summer compared to winter as the apartments are cool so around 950 per month if your LL does not pay the standard charges, and about 450 per month if he does! hth.

I'm looking for bills for the largest 2 bedroom possible or even 3- bedroom just for comparison sake, and as for the other I have no idea! Is that the "chiller" fee? I guess that will depend on the contract- I haven't gotten that far yet! Thanks:)

Bmai, what size apartment. And will your LL be paying the standard quarterly charge for Empower (not the consumption charge) or will you?

Thank you TOLB!! I think when I went by there all I saw was the construction site and it totally put me off- but reading the forum it seems there must be better space beind the towers! Good to know there are lots of kids out and about. My youngest is 2 so I don't have to have a stroller at all times anymore... How long Another question- can people give me an idea of their monthly utility bills- for a family of 4, just to have an idea! Thank you so much

Hi Bmai The podium level is fully lanscaped with paths, grass and gardens. Loads of kids playing down there particularly in the evening. I think they are probably not supposed to ride bikes there but they all do! If you are pushing a buggy to the metro it might be a bit awkward due to the road works and sand, although they finally seem to be getting to grips with it and sorting it out!

Reading through this thread I saw there was discussion of a park/green space being in the works- any news on that? For families that live in ET, is there a place for kids to ride bikes, etc and is walking to the metro pretty safe with toddlers? This place seems so perfect for us except for the fact that it's a tower- hard to wrap my mind around when I've always lived so close to the ground;) TIA for any help or advice- I'm totally unable to make up my mind at this point!!

Does anyone know of a toy donation box close by? A friend found one in Meadows and donated all the toys in good condition that her kids had out grown. I'd like to do the same but don't want to go all the way to Meadows.

Thanks Betty I have a nanny so school dates is ok for me and I want to send him only mornings He is a currently in a nursery in Jumeirah, I was very happy till they decided last week to increase by 30% starting from January (they have already increased by 18% in September) this is just ridiculous and they are taking advantage that kids are already registered but I decided to not keep him in this nursery anymore

Olivia how was halloween!? :) Fuchica there are loads of nurseries within a ten/fifteen minute drive, the pricier would be in the DiFC area and then within Jumeirah there are more budget nurseries and the ones at the higher end too. It would also depend on whether you are looking for something to be open all year round (if you work) or just something to fit in with school dates.
