Ok, so I'm in NZ with my girls and hubby and get a ph call from my mother in law last week, who's been watching the news in Lebanon which has shown a program of an astronomer who is predicting a massive earthquake for this region to happen on Monday!! Apparently there is a comet which is going to align with other planets and earth and it's going to trigger an earthquake which is going to sink nz and half destroy australia, japan and other countries!! I've looked on the internet and found some info on it but there's been no news of it here or anywhere else that I know of. anyone heard anything over there?

By the way, since 90's there were always end of day date and it always turn up to be.... Nothing happens!!!! so relax and take it easy.... as that page says in FB about that( I had survived end of days ....) so it won't happen. :) have a glass of vino ;)

The world is in constant movement. I use this site when I want to see what is happening locally but if you look at this page for the last 30 days or so, it is all go. http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/ This is par for the course. In fact, the most recent ( on this) was just across the water.

Separating some facts from fiction/predictions: this report is based on NASA research which has been following Elenin's path around our solar system. Facts are that at times of E's recent closest encounters and alignments massive earthquakes have happened. Considering that there will be three close encounters within the next three months, the likelihood of "something" happening is not to be ignored. Furthermore, Nasa has issued internal memos to its own employees advising to take necessary precautions. Food for thought? Me thinks so. - Panic? Oh, I apologize - I forgot my references! For the first two events it was Mr ********, my 9th grade Social Education teacher and a friend **** who is not Lebanese but Australian and he is in a band. For the final point, the reference is Disney. Unless the guy starts calling himself an astrophysicist I'm not even gonna bother googling it, I like the Disney stuff though. I learned a lot about life from watching Finding Nemo, including a lot about Sydney harbor and now this is making me wanna visit Australia:-) Talk about being attracted to danger!

Actually i watched this documentary after the big earth quake in Japan that happened recently and that region will have a massive earthquake in the coming future but it's to do with the build up of pressure on the plates of the region etc rather than to do with astronomy.

Oh lordy. There is also an interview with some Palestinian astronomer doing the rounds, except he claims there will be a natural disaster in 2015 which will destroy America (N & S) and Europe. If the vulture tabloids aren't printing it I don't believe it; if there were any evidence to back this up it would produce killer sales for them and they wouldn't miss the story! actually he is right, as far as a total financial crisis of the dollar, the collapse of the european union or the euro are considered natural disaster...
