Hi Mom of Twins
Make me feel alot better - as we are over in the Ik & just going off what they tell us without seeing the progress. How old are you children goign to DSO? I quite like it that my 8year wont be the new girl in class, they all will be! I know some will know others from other schools- but the school / teachers will be new for them all & Gems do come out well in teh inspections - so really chuff so far, just waiting for the uniform list to some out!
When we arrived in Dubai in 2007 our children attended Wellington Primary and it definitely opened on time, it was not a new building, it was located in an existing school.
Fairycakeyumm, do you mean the primary section of Wellington International which was a new school?
I have my 2 registered there for sept 2011. Got sick of the waiting list game everywhere else and it won't be much of a drive. Drove by a few times and it's been busy with workers every day! I think September is a go, and wouldn't mind having the kids at another Wellington until then! Will keep you posted.

They are not going to tell you it's behind or going to be delayed, as they are collecting all the school fees and registration,s they get told to say it's going to open ...
We came over few years ago when Wellington primary was due to open In the October and it just about was ready In time. It was way further on than DSO, that's what is putting doubts I'n my head ...
It still looks like a building site... I hope it does open on time for the sake of all the parents that have registered there.

Hi, we have just got in here. We don't all come over till Aug., but hubby is out there. I sent him to have a look round - he went on site & chatted to a few there & they where saying it will be finished in August. But will feel easier knowing when it is actually finished - he says it looks smart what they have done so far. We are know planning to look at houses in Arabian Ranges as commute is ok . I have also got him do a few dummy runs in the car to double check! Well I'm a bit limited doing the practical research over here in the UK!
Yep not even finished being built. they havent even finished the outside let alone the inside :@
I can never see that being finished in 5 months ...they will take everyones money and prob place the kids in other gems schools till its finished.
School will be finished on time, they have places but are filling fast, the Head is Martin Clark who has a excellent reputation, its a GEMS school profit making.
Are you sure about that? It was supposed to be finished last September and while there has been *some* progress it still looks a long way from finished.
I agree it looks half built.
Well?? Is it wise to register my daughter there? We live at Arabian Ranches. How far is it from the school? Is it wise to leave a 3 year old in a bus for that long? i'm just nervous! the wait list is so long everywhere else that im tempter to go and register her at this school!

I know that the class sizes are capped at 27....
Thanks for the info, 27....sadly schools everywhere is a business matter rather than education...will try them anyway ...

Anybody has any idea how's the construction going on? I have no idea where are they located, do you think it's wise to register my son there (year 1) as they don't have a waiting list so far? and will it be a good school like the other GEMS?
