Also am wiling to share my experience so far for anybody who is interested in doing similar.

Currently training at the gym most days with mixture of cardio and weights.

Thanks for the feedback MrsChef and Lakshmi ... Breaking in my boots already ;) Hopefully it won't be as cold as you experienced MrsChef ... And we are staying in teahouses not camping, so might be slightly warmer. Off to the gym now ... edited by assisi on 18/08/2011

I've not done it but wanted to wish you a great trip, assisi! I trekked in Nepal many years ago and loved it. Hubby quite fancies doing Everest base camp as he's not been to Nepal so maybe one day :)

I did this trek a few years ago when i first came to Dubai. It was a fantastic experience!! I went at the end of Feb for 3 weeks and used a company called World Expeditions which i can't recommend enough. I also mainly trained in the gym which stood me in good stead. As long as your fitness levels are OK then you'll be fine. My main concern was blisters but you have to get to base camp in such a slow manner due to climatising that we only ever walked for 4/5hours a day. I'm not sure what weather you'll be getting but it was SO cold when we went - it was meant to be spring but was more like winter! Make sure you take lots of wetwipes and be prepared not to take a shower for the full duration!! It was the best experience in my life so far....camping for 27days (i'd never camped before!!!). Have a great time!!!

Just sent them an email. I'm happy to wait until he's older, something to look forward to. I hope you have a wonderful time :)

Sounds fantastic. I will note down his company name for future reference and have a look out for his FB page and website. I'm sure it will be a life changing experience. I read an article in The National last Friday about a local lady who took her 7 year old son on the Annapurna Circuit and it just made me want to go there even more. I've cut out the article and filed it away. I would love to take my son when he's that age as well.

Well I am very lucky as my husband's friend is just setting up a Dubai based company organising Nepal and alps treks so we are doing it with him. His company is called Mountain Quests. He will 'tailor make' treks coping with taking children too so if you're interested he has a Facebook page with website to go live in the next week or so. We are so well located for this living here ... I am so excited. Feel like it's going to change my life. It already is ... edited by assisi on 17/08/2011

This was on my 'To Do' list but DS arrived before I got to complete my list! Will have to wait a few years now but I still would like to do it. Which company are you doing it with? I'd be interested to hear about your experience. My friend and her DH did the Annapurna a few years ago and absolutely loved it.
