Anyone have something else in the garden? Especially those who have young kids
who are always lying on the floor (if you know what I mean ;).

TIA

We are in the same boat. We put down bark (bought from the plant souk near academic city) and it is still looking good. But young kids might throw it around!

Hi McB, I used the Green People (www.greenpeopleme.com). I went for the standard Bermuda grass which was approx Dhs 30 per sq foot. Like I said - expensive, but I had already spent twice what I paid for the fake grass, trying to plant, grow and maintain a real lawn! I wish I had just had the fake grass put in to begin with. It really looks amazing and I get comments on it all the time. First they came around and measured everything, then gave me a quote and it took them one day to install. They organise the gate passes, approvals etc. as I'm in a gated community. As for the trees, I have tried for ages to find someone who would look after my trees (trim, shape, etc.) but no one seems to be willing to do it. I tried the Garden Centre, but they said they only did commercial projects and were too busy. My gardener has a go every couple of months, but he usually just "hacks them to death"!!!!

Bella/jomar What company did you use and what quality of fake grass ? Need to reduce our grass area and figure out what to do in a large garden without spending a foutune. Trees need cutting and some taken out. any advice would be great from anyone please. Thanks

Agree with Bella! I had fake grass put in a year ago. Very pricey but worth every fils! No maintenance (just hose down once a month or so), no watering, no cutting, no insects, easy to clean and looks lush green and healthy all the time. The quality is great and most people can't tell it isn't real. Even the gardener had to look closely :)

We put in fake grass about a year ago and we absolutely love it. The kids play on it all the time now (used to hate the real grass as it was dirty and full of insects). I got mine from one of the major companies here. It was expensive, but very high quality. You save on DEWA. HTH Bella

yep we just ripped ours up, got sick of it being eaten by caterpillars, dying in summer and us getting bitten by ants! we put down the rubber playmats everyone has indoors. We got large sized grey ones, they don't look nearly as pretty as the grass but now we use the backyard, sit on the ground etc.

We have no grass either. We have gravel, sand, fake grass and rubber mats. Purchased a roll of fake grass from Dragon Mart and just put it directly onto the sand. It has not been fixed and it's fine.
