I'm weighing up whether to stay at the Royal Beach or the Hilton in Dibba next week. Both have quite good offers for what we want, so I've been looking for reviews of them. I'm dismayed to find complaints about bedbugs in one and cockroaches in the other. Is that kind of thing normal round here? Has anyone got any recent experience of either, please?

Stayed at both. Royal Beach has nice rooms but compound is very small, food was disappointing and beach is stony and only accessible with shoes which are provided by the hotel. Hilton inside Fujeirah City has very peaceful atmosphere, great service, small but tidy beach with black sand and and very nice food. Pool small but bigger than Royal Beach. Rooms in Hilton were clean but don't know how the chalets are. If you go with kids and Sandy Beach is booked, try JAL. Didn't stay there but heard only good things. ETA What about Miramar? It's next to Sandy Beach and has a nice beach and pool. edited by Kermi on 24/03/2011

Hilton is fine, esp iif you're not going up be spending time there. There are more hotels in fujairah but that's the only one on the sea.

it's pretty uneventful there :) and thats just my experience. Not bothered going back. The Hilton was clean, very friendly and we did have a lovely room. Bit of a small rectangle pool that didnt offer much for the kids, but the playground was pretty cool. and a teeny beach. We'll use it as a base from which to explore, dorter is doing some PADI dives and we thought we'd go and look at the Indian Ocean for a change :) Right, on your head be it if we come back crawling with bed-bugs ;) Where is she doing the PADI course? Al Aqah should be closer to this, and you could stay at the Meridien, Rotana or JAL all much nicer than the Hilton.... I only go to the hilton if I have work in Fujerah, would stay at the other three if for exploring etc as they're far nicer...

oh, sorry...havent stayed in dibba only fujeirah, so ignore me. I think I mean the same thing, actually, Dibba seems to be in two places at once :) yeah, whenever I think Dibba I think the Oman enclave and the beach beside the Golden tulip. Fujeirah I am sure is about 60 k away from there? And isnt the dive center near snoopy island? have fingers crossed theres no crawlies where ever you end up!
