Check out this website. http://www.safarinow.com/ You can make online payments to the places where you want to book and I feel they have the best rates from all the websites also biggest variety. Hope you find a place as most of the hotels are already fully booked for December. I personally prefer self-catering apartments as sometimes you want to cook your own food or have a bbq (or braai as us South Africans call it).

We stayed at the Protea hotel North Wharf(18mths ago), which was an apartment. Not far from the V & A. We really liked it.

Have you thought of Furnished apartments at the V&A waterfront. My DH booked our holiday thru www.go2africa.com. The lady he spoke to was Angela Carlin and she made all the arrangements. Beautiful apartments right on the Marina.

We stayed at The Westin Cape Town with the lovely view of the Table Mountain. If you stay on Executive floor, the breakfast is absolutely delicious! I do not remember if they provide shuttle service to the Waterfront which is not far from the hotel. Will stay there again if we return :)

have stayed in the commodore - which is fine/adequate. but for the last 3 years have stayed at the table bay hotel - which is right in the V&A and is just wonderful. they do have some great deals on from time to time too.

Friends always stay at the Commodore which is in the Waterfront and seem to like it, I can't say as we have never stayed there. If you don't mind being a short drive away then we always stay at Derwent House, (http://www.derwenthouse.co.za/). The ladies who own it are English and are absolutely wonderful, can't do enough for you and the place has a wonderful comfy feeling but very clean and modern too! And as for their breakfast pancakes, yumyum! And no, I have no connection to the place other than being a very happy guest!

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Capetown for next March. Preferably one close to V&A waterfront. I have looked on Trip Advisor but in light of recent news that many of the positive reviews are paid for by the hotels I would prefer to hear from someone who actually has been.
