Our friends have moved to a new apartment and they have invited us to their place....I'm kinda stuck and don't know what to do about their housewarming present... I'll appreciate your suggestions ;)

I went past that Italian place beginning with B in the Dubai Mall today, someone posted here how deelish their cakes are but I haven't tried them yet, despite dropping huge hints for my birthday! Otherwise, got a gorgeous chocolate orange mousse cake from Shakespeare & Co for HWMBO's b'day, which went down very well.

To be honest we can't spend that much on a housewarming present at the moment...So, how about a bottle of wine, flowers or even a very delicious and beautiful cake (they both love desserts)? TIA Sounds just perfect and I'm sure they'll appreciate it :)

Thank you all for your posts:) The thing is buying a household item is a little bit tricky, as their house is decorated with lots of EXPENSIVE antiques, and they both have very specific tastes for their personal items. To be honest we can't spend that much on a housewarming present at the moment...So, how about a bottle of wine, flowers or even a very delicious and beautiful cake (they both love desserts)? TIA

Definitely candles - you can't go wrong! Jo Malone, Zara etc or the smelly sticks in the bottles!

How about a tool box? Someone has given me one and was horrified at that time. After a couple of years, I was and still thankful that this person has given me something I would never spent a dirham on. If not, how about candles? or a digital picture frame?

Flowers and a nice vase are always appreciated. Buying personal items for someone else's home can be a bit of hit and miss-unless you know their colour schemes.

I always gift stuff from Tavola .. last time it was a cake stand and a large brushed silver bowl .. I tend to walk into Tavola and have a snoop around and I always manage to find something in there that is lovely to give as a gift :)
