Dear all
I am a teacher with more than 15 years of experience behind me. I would like to do the PGCE course since most British schools require a UK teaching qualification though I have a Bachelors in Education. I enquired at Middlesex university here in dubai but unfortunately they only admit applicants currently teaching in a university. I work as a primary school teacher. Can anyone help me out in this matter?
Much appreciated.

Do you want to work as a teacher here or in the UK? If here, KHDA will most likely ask for a master. But if you have a BA in education then I think they will ask you to sit an exam. If not possible, look at the UK unis on the UAE recommended list. Uni of Birmingham, Derby, Leeds and many others do online postgrad in education. Alternatively you can look at Zyed Uni, but as far as I know they don't have international accredition yet. They offer post grad in education as well. Ok Zyed isn't an option I see. Have you tried British Uni? But then you might have to apply for the qualification in UK. edited by Marroosh on 09/04/2014

Dearest Maroosh ,thank you very much for the info. Appreciate it. Unfortunately Uni of Not. does offer a PGCE course but the advisor has made it very clear that it is NOT a teaching qualification but serves as a pathway if I want to further my Masters in education. I do not mind if it is anywhere in the UAE as long as I receive a UK teaching qualification ta the end of my course. Can you help? Anyone else have any suggestions/experience?

University of Notthingham do the PGCE here in Academic City. The British University, also in academic city has Post Graduate courses: http://buid.ac.ae/buid/page.php?id=1242 Also, the UAE govt now accepts online degrees from by them accredited universities. Have a look at this site: http://www.mohesr.gov.ae/En/E-Services/Pages/Electronic_Recommended_Institute.aspx Before you start your degree, make sure you apply for "permission" first. If you don't you risk not having your degree attested, even if it is on their list. You can do that through this form: https://services.mohesr.gov.ae/SharePointEnqApp/InquireProgram.aspx?DegreeFilter=1%2c2%2c3%2c4%2c5&Lang=en-US HTH edited by Marroosh on 08/04/2014
